Millermatic 200 wont feed wire

I have a millermatic 200 (black face). Built in 1984 or so. 220v 1 ph power....My problem is when the trigger is pulled, the wire will not feed. I can hear the solinoids clicking but no wire will feed. the feed motor will jump a bit but will not continue to feed. put a volt meter on the wires leading to the motor and it only powers for a second (if that) and then no power. I just replaced the circut board so I know that its not that. There are a few solinoids on this machine could it be one of these?? what about the round blue things ( im not sure what they are). I tapped on one of them and the wire motor rotated, but then I tapped on the solinoid next to that and that also made the wire motor rotate. Im 90% sure my problem is I am not getting continuous power to the wire feed motor. I was told it was most likely the circut board so I sent it out. When they called and said it was bad I figured OK thats the problem. Obviously it was not the only problem, but at least now I know the circut board is good....I bought this welder new in 1984 or 85 and it is used at my home so the usage is mild..

Sounds like a loose or bad connection, resolder the soldered joint, these do hide hidden problems. The "blue things" might be capacitors, be ever so carefull if you remove them or you will get an awfull shock, an electrician will have the equipment to test these out, play it safe,

New welder, only fed wire a couple times now it wont work

the noise you hear is the relay for the wire feed,it means that your tension on the wire needs to be set, tighten it if it is too loose and loosen it if the roller on the feed is moving but the wire is not, also, make sure the wire moves easily in the handle, always keep your cords straight so they dont bind.

My millermatic 200 was working fine then all of sudden the wire would arc without pressing the trigger

you will need to open up the machine and find the relay / contactor chances are the contact are stuck together

My trigger to my millermatic 250 won't stop feeding the wire even when switch is not pressed

Does it feed with the trigger plug removed from the machine? If so, then it is a circuit board. If no, then wires shorted somewhere in the gun.

Millermatic 140 w/ auto set powers on but will not feed wire or arc

If its a new unit its probably nothing. Miller makes good stuff. Open the side so you can see the spool. With the machine on, press the trigger for a second. Did the little wheel spin (trying to feed the wire) if it did then your problem could be kinked wire, **** on tip, or spring on small spool is loose and wire is slipping. Let me know.

Millermatic 200 won't weld

first check on the plate that tells imfo of unit ,there is what is called duty cycle. If the duty cycle says per say 30%,that means you can weld full power for 3 minuets before unit will shut down to cool.if it says 100% duty cycle there is no limit on weld time.this is the first thing to understand,if that is not the case check the main contactor where the power imput wires go,pull the gun trigger see if the contactor is pulling in , it should if not no welding amperage.

Millermatic 200 will not weld

1 - Check the ground connection to the work, including the actual cable to clamp connection.

2 - Make sure that the wire feed rollers are nice and clean. The wire needs to be clean too.

3 - Check that the polarity changing wire connections are nice and tight, clean, etc.

4 - change and or service the contact tip at the end of the gun.

as always, gently clean out the loose junk inside the case. A clean welder is a happy welder. :-)
