Water Softner Dispense wont empty - Kenmore Elite Quiet Pak 4 HE3t

Washer 1 year old - recently moved to new house. Everything works fine, but now the liquid softener dispenser will not empty. The bleach and washing detergent compartments empty but not the softener. I have tried cleaning all the compartments, making sure all holes are clear. Also ran the Sanitary cycle with all bleach and still only the softener compartment did not empty. Any suggestions

There is Softner and it appears no water has mixed with it. I use DOWNY Fabric Softner. I even tried thinning it with water and still it will not empty nor does it seem that water reached that compartment.

I found several holes at the top after the dispenser drawer was removed and cleaned out holes with a paperclip and put the drawer back and washed a small load using detergent and softner. Softner compartment was not emptied and it appears no water was mixed with softner. Any more suggestions?

Remove dispenser tray and spary top of the dispencer tray area (in washer) with vinegar. Take a toothbrush and soak it with vinegar as well. Scrub the top part of the inside cabin area where the dispenser tray sits. Then take a toothpick and stick inside each of the holes that sit over the fabric softner side. Remove any mold from those holes. Spray again with vinegar and scrub with toothbrush again. Take a washcloth and wipe clean. Put the dispenser tray back in place. Once you have removed the mold run the "rinse/spin" cycle. Water should shoot out of those holes now and into your fabric softener which will flow into your washer now.

I'm sure you heard a small motor running from time to time during a cycle. That moves an "arm" which sends water to the different chambers during a cycle. Fabric softener is dispensed when water goes to that chamber and dilutes the fabric softener. That chamber then empties by a siphoning action.
If you want to narrow down the problem a little to help trouble shoot -- put some wet rags in and run the Rinse and Spin cycle with some fabric softener. If the softener is not dispensed, then you know that the water isn't being sent to that chamber properly.
If you are intrepid enough to take the top off your washer, do that and see if the arm appears to be moving during a normal cycle. Maybe the arm got dislodged or broken during the move.
If water isn't being diverted properly, I think this calls for a real repair person.

if you look in the dispenser drawer you will see a tab at the back push it down and remove the dispenser drawer check to see the dispenser holes arent clogged

  • Anonymous Jan 30, 2008

yes you need to pull the top off the washer and check the connecters at the motor on the side of the dispenser then check the motor itself with an ohm meter should be 1400 ohms

Everytime we wash in cold, even with fabric softener, if the clothes stay in washer for more than 5 minutes after the cycle is done, the clothes smell horrible.

Kenmore elite he3t quiet pak 4 what is sevice code f 35

F35 is a water level error.
The water level switch (pressure switch) has malfunctioned.

If you remove the top panel, three screws in the back, you will have access to the pressure switch.

With the tub empty, remove the vinyl hose from the switch and blow backwards through the hose to clear any restrictions.

If the fault codes return after doing this, you will likely need to replace the pressure switch.

Also - please be sure to use He soap.
