The transistor is mounted on the main circuit board, you cannot buy the part from Hobart or Miller, they only sell the complete circuit board.
If you can read any part numbers from the transistor you can purchase the part from a electronic parts supplier.
I am having the same exact problem on an old Hobart Beta Mig 200
sometimes i can weld for 5 minutes and other times as soon as I hit the trigger it trips the 50amp breaker. Any help?
A schematic would certainly help, give Hobart a call and ask for a wiring diagram. or manual. Hobart are very helpful and may even give you guidance, you may have to pay the postage, they usually fax these documents so it will not cost you anything.
