DEGAUSS IS INTERNAL AND ONLY WORKS WHEN THE SET IS FIRST TURNED ON. YOU WILL HAVE TO OPEN THE SET AND EITHER SOLDER THE BURNT CONNECTION OR REPLACE THE THERMISTOR. THE DEGAUSSING COIL GOES AROUND THE OUTSIDE OF THE TUBE(INSIDE THE SET) 2 LEADS AND PLUGS IN CLOSE TO THE AC LINE CORD. IT IS CONNECTED THREW A TEMPERATURE COMPENSATING RESISTOR THREW A RELAY DIRECTLY TO THE A.C. LINE INPUT FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS WHEN THE SET IS FIRST TURNED ON.

I have a Toshiba 36A61. Power does not turn on instead blinking red light. Unable to move tv to unplug. Is it safe to leave tv plugged in

It would be safe to leave plugged in, its not going to blow up or anything but if your not comfortable with it connected to power you can unhook the cord from the back of the tv in most cases

My Toshiba 36a61 has lost all red tint. everything is blue or green or a weird grey. Any idea what it could be? And if it's a part that needs to be replaced where can i get it?

unfortunately it is not easy to replace parts in a tv. it is very high voltage inside and is just not worth it especially when you dont know what is going to go next. it could be a couple of different things and you need the right diagnostic tools to identify the part. try this link http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?sduid=0&t=2123062

or try this link http://www.slickdeals.net for really cheap prices on lcd tvs. you can get one for under 500 or tvs like yours are dime a dozen at goodwill for under 100 bux or check your local classifieds.

Cannot clear the closed caption off screen

go to your menu and turn it off. Or, turn your tv off and unplug it give it 5 minutes to let it reset so it doesnt keep it stored, and turn it back on.

Depends on TV i guess.

good luck.

Remote i on tv

From elsewhere... in case it helps

"...and an intermittent problem responding to the
remote. I had a service person check it out and was going to have it
repaired because it still looks and sounds very good. The part was
available at a cost of about $85-90 plus about $40 for the service.
However, the service person didn't want to come back again for
another service call because I was too far and it was not profitable
for him, so the part was never replaced.

The remote control is OK. It is the receiving module in the TV that
has a low voltage problem. If anyone is electronically handy it
probably is an easy fix to install a new module or it can be use
without the remote with the buttons on the TV."

No pic..or sound

a lot of times when a set is dropped the printed circuit board gets cracked, the only way to tell is to remove the back and printed circuit board and check; if not too badly damaged can be 'hard wired' across breaks and fixed

Remote Problems

Put new batteries in and try again. Sometimes the IR sender may also not be working properly due to a loose connection.
I would also suggest to open the remote and clean the contacts using alcohol. Rub the contacts on the key pad and remote gently.
Hope this works.
