Is the monitor supplied with inbuilt speakers..? Most monitors no longer have inbuilt speakers and this is why there is no place to connect the audio cable. You will have to purchase a set of external speakers and connect these to the audio output of your system.

New G215HL monitor connected to HP Compaq Presario harddrive - no sound. Previous monitor had a sound port, this one does not.

You need to connect an external set of speakers to the Audio output of the harddrive, as you put it. At the rear, or some other convenient place you should find a set of at least three, "Jacks" locate the "Green" output Jack, and use that to feed the powered speakers, you then will be able to hear sounds....

I just bought an X223W LCD monitor for my computer and there's no sound. My previous audio cable has no place to plug into this monitor. How am I supposed to get sound?

Your previous monitor had built-in speakers. The Aces LCD monitor do not have built-in speakers, therefore you need to purchase external speakers and plug these into your computer.

I cannot get the sound to work. There is a cord for the monitor that I THINK is for the sound but there is no reciprocal port on the hard drive.

Acer X223W does not have built-in speakers. There are three ports on the back: 1 AC input port, 2 video input ports (DVI and VGA).

I am trying to install my new X223W monitor to my IBM thinkpad laptop. I can't do it even though I have the 15 Point connections and the power cord installed correctly. No pic on the monitor.

Go to your helps directory in the Thinkpad and there should be a helps to assist you with you monitor to laptop connection.
Also look at the monitor instruction to see if you have missed a step or two.
There is also an IBM forum online for IBM Thinkpad owners to get specific help.

No sound

Yes, you do. You need an stereo audio cable. It will have a connector like found on portable headphones on each end. There should be a recepticle for it on your monitor, usually marked light green. This cable would then connect to your computer's audio output. Although, I don't think your monitor has speakers.

Display not working, power button LED turns on blue for 1 second and won't turn on again I've searched the web as well as this site and can't find my exact issue anywhere. I hope I'm not duplicating this question though. My X223W monitor is pushing 6 years old. It was working perfectly 4 weeks ago before a 1 week trip. When I returned, I pressed the power button to turn it on. The power buttom LED simply turned on blue and then turned off after 1 second. I get NOTHING on the display itself, not even a flicker nor the Acer logo. Pressing the power button again got nothing - not even the 1-second power button light. I unplugged the monitor, plugged it into a wall outlet it was plugged into a power strip the whole week I was gone, tried the power button again, but got NOTHING. Not even the 1 second power button LED. Here is what I have tried to fix this: 1. Tried 3 different power cables that are confirmed working - nothing. 2. Tried 2 different outlets that are also confirmed working - nothing. 3. Tried unplugging the monitor, holding the power button for 10 seconds to do a reset - nothing. Although, this did accomplish restarting the cycle in which I am able to get the power button LED to do its 1 second turn on/off again. Still nothing on the display, though. 4. Took apart the monitor to look at the power supply board capacitors. None of them were blown, bulging, or looking strange at all, but I ordered a kit online to replace them anyway. When done, I triple checked my solder points, cap orientation, uF size of each cap, and re-connection of all cables - all good. But, the symptom is exactly the same. Same 1 second power button LED turning on/off with nothing on the display. Because of the age of the monitor, I think I'll likely just buy a new Acer. But, I'd love to fix this one eventually so that I could maybe end up with two displays. Is there another component I should be looking at that might cause this? Should I replace the entire power board? Is in an inverter? The logic board perhaps? Any advice would be welcome.
