Basic steps to follow:1. Replace your IDE/SATA cable (cable that connects to motherboard to local (system drive). 2. Check if there's a dirt build-up on RAM pins (clean it via pencil eraser then cotton with 70% alcohol or dirt/rust cleaning solution. 3. Same process on step #2 as for your grahics card if there's any. 4. Graphics card cooling system maybe overheating, try touching it, if it is, replace the cooling fan if you can(also the thermal paste) 5. Try your built-in (on-board graphics card alone, by removing the inserted video card. If your PC worked normally then the problem is on the inserted Vcard. If the prob still exist then the defect is on the built-in graphics processing unit of the board that needs a major repair by reballing the onboard video chip.
There is no Fn-Fx key combination to change screen resolution (at leat on my R10 running Windows XP. Even if you create a shortcut to open the graphics properties you still have to open the relevant tab manually to change resolutions. You can open the Intel Extreme Graphics 2 for mobile icon on the tray, go to the graphic properties change the resolution and save as a scheme. With a customized scheme defined you will be able to click the Intel Graphic properties and select that scheme. But be careful, your tablet pen will no longer be calibrated with the available screen area. I tried on my R10 (native resolution 1024x768) and all I could select was 800x600@ 60Hz.

If you have run the laptop in safe mode it uses the standard VGA graphics driver, and this indicates the onboard graphics card is still functioning. without actually having a chip to complement your sound 'card' you're not really going to have hardware capability ... just just a shared state where available memory for use by sound is deducted from available standard ram ...
your graphx card is also integrated ... ( hehe .. i've actually had someone ask me to upgrade their laptops video card .... )
