Hello ! I have D945GCPE intel motherboard in my PC ,now i want to expand the graphic card memory of it, is it possible? As there are no pci x slots , & i don't know whether there is PCI slot or not, presently onboard memory of the graphic card is 256MB. Please guide me regarding this!
945 gcpe has not have AGP slot and PCI Express, it is not possible to upgrade Graphics, you can change your motherboard, if you want to update graphics.

There is a large range of graphics card on the market in both performance and prices to match. The graphic card that suits your requirements depands upon what you want in terms of performance and the application that requires a particular level of graphic capability. Check the software documentation or games program for the graphic card that is required to run with their program. Generally games programs that require photo realistic rendering require high end graphics cards. You may select a graphic card that is a bit above your current requirements to cover for future requirements. I suggest you Google search the Internet or go to your computer shop to see what is available that meets your requirements. You can spend a lot of money on a very high end graphics card when a lessor graphics card would still suit your requirements and not burn a hole in your pocket.
Hi, Open the case of your system.if your graphics card is in agp type, locate it as shown at left (color brown). If it is a pci, installed into the pci slot as shown.
AGP Slot PCI Slot
Use the antistatic wrist strap to avoid electrostatic discharge (ESD). Or you can ground yourself into the case.
Hi Harikris, no you can not install just any graphics card. You're Intel D845GLLY board uses an onboard graphics card. (It's an AGP graphics card). If it's you're intention to install a new graphics card you must use a PCI graphics card. (Understand that the AGP onboard graphics is faster than a PCI graphics card). However, the PCI cards do use their own memory. (Which fee’s you're system memory to run windows. The Intel D845GLLY has 4 PCI (White) slots, onboard. You can add a video card into the system. You're onboard video card does use you're system memory to function. If you're PC has 512MB of system memory & you're video card is set to use 128MB of memory. Than you're system is left to run with 128MB. One would think you're system is running a little slow. The Intel D845GLLY motherboard can use up to 256MB of system memory. You can set the amount of system memory in the bios as shown on page 49, table 18. In you're manual. If you do not have you're manual you can download it from here: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d845glly/sb/cs-008853.htm May I suggest you increase you're system memory to 1GB. Than increase you're graphics memory to 256MB. You're system will run faster & so will you're graphics card. These older Intel motherboards require memory current for you're board. Click this link: http://www.memory-up.com/Memory/IntelD12696.html If you still feel that you want to use the slower PCI graphics card you can choose from any listed on this link: http://www.newegg.com/product/ProductList.aspx?N=2000380048+1069609642&Submit=ENE&SubCategory=48&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA You will also need to change a setting in you're bios to boot to the PCI card instead of the AGP onboard card. Your Intel D915GLVG has a integrated PCIExpress built into the board. Your system memory is shared with the built in video card. This board's memory can handel up to 4GB of system memory which up to 512MB can be shared from your system memory. If you wanted to disable the integrated 915GL Express Chipset with Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 900. You would be left with two PCI slots. Running a PCI video card is slower than a AGP card & two notches down from a PCIExpress card.
So in order for you to acheave what you want your going to have to increase your system memory. If you still have your manual the specifactions for your memory is on Pg. 9.
The link below is a list of supported memory from Intel. http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d915glvg/sb/CS-027048.htm
If you no longer have your manual you download it from this link: http://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d915glvg/sb/c996091_en.pdf
Though you can check aound. I can suggest this mamory which will give you 2GB dual matched memory that is within your boards specifications. Listed at this link. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1075233&CatId=1352
You will still have two memory slots free to upgrade to a total of 4Gb at a later date. So please do not disable your current video card. Please use your manual when installing memory. Two Dimms go into certain slots on the D915GLVG board.
Enjoy!
