The lithium button cell is only a memory backup for when the main power pack is off the camera. It allows the camera to retain the number of exposures, asa setting, etc. You problem may lie in the battery holder. The BH70 was prone to corrosion at the contacts and the pivot points where the part that holds the batteries to the side plate with the retaining screw. It is possible to remove the batteries from the holder, then carefully separate the two pieces by popping one end enough to allow the pivot pin to slide past the notch. Use a hard eraser to clean all of the metal points (pivot contacts and the springs and plate in the 4 cell holder.

Minolta maxxum 7000 wont turn on, I already changed batteries, the cr2016 andcleaned contacts.

Hi, If you're sure the batteries are new and working it's hard to say what could be wrong. If you're looking to have it looked at and repaired I'd suggest talking to Gus Lazzari, he's a wizard with 35mm cameras.

BATTERY COMPARTMENT& PUSH TO SHOOT BUTTON EATEN AWAY BY BATTERIUES GONE BAD

Maxxum 7000 are cheap these days. Get a used one on Ebay and keep yours for parts.
Better yet, get a 7000i, 700xi, 650xi, 800xi or a Maxxum 5, 7, or 9. Why? More focus points, faster AF, more options, same lenses. But you will need to replace your flash.
BTW...remove batteries when you aren't put it away.

Maxxum 7000 camera lithium battery

The lithium button cell is under the metal plate where the battery holder attaches. There are six screws holding the plate to the camera. I believe the cell is a CR-2025.

That being said, replacing the lithium battery will only restore the cameras ability to remember your settings and frame counter when the regular batteries are not on the camera. It will not restore functions of the camera.

If the camera is not functioning properly, you have a power problem with the main batteries, not the memory backup cell
