Blue streaks across picture

Turned on the tv this am and there's two blue distorted streaks across the middle of the picture. The bottom of picture shows yellow.

We turned the tv on and the pictures back to normal, but the blue swishes looked like two strokes of paint across the screen and when the blue strokes were there you could still see the picture. thank.

Can you describe in a little more detail what the symptoms are? Are the streaks thin lines or are they large thick swashes of Blue? Is yur video still visible? Sounds like it may be the blue convergence amps or the resistor tied into the amps. is there anyway you can post a picture of your screen distortion?

could be a weak capaitor in the blue drive circuit. f it happens again or gets more frequent look for a bulging capacitor or a leaky one.

check for cold solder joints around the flyback transformer and a open pico type fuse very close to it. they are rectangle in shape and ususually the one in the middle of the three is the culprit. The problem is in the pincushion circuit

Picture has a blue shadow

Hi,
Seems convergence out IC is fried in TV so it gives blue shadow.

Check out Convergence Out IC which you need to replace in TV, if you have enough experience of repair of big TV, necessary tools and know basic electronics.

Green/Blue distorted Colors

Color issues are harder to solve without seeing the problem. It sound like the red amplifier on the crt board is bad. Is there any red in the picture at all? If not, that will be you problem

PT-47WX, Blue streaks across the screen?

It is not a bulb. It is a picture tube. If there are thin blue lines across the entire screen, not just the edges, and the picture itself looks too blue, it means that the blue picture tube is being driven too hard. This could be because the blue screen voltage is too high, the boost voltage on the blue picture tube is too low, or the video output is leaky or shorted. If the picture has what looks like blue arcs and double images on one or more sides of the picture, it means that one of your convergence IC's has burned out and needs to be replaced. These are things that should be tested and serviced by a qualified tech, so allow an experienced tech to handle it for you.

Picture Distortion

you have a convergence problem.. If you understand how this works then you can go into the set find the convergence ic's and replace them and sometimes you need to do some alighnment as well. Its always best though to let a service tech do a job like this as he will have all the proper equipment to adjust and troubleshoot the set Good luck
