I got my bose 321 system 40 days ago and it was working great. all of sudden the remote stopped working. I called the support and they replaced new remote. still it is not working ..
any ideas.. please help
Pull off the front panel, be carefull there is a ribbon attached. Detach the ribbon. There are 2 ribbons attached to the front panel, one that leads to the IR (remote sensor) and other for the controls on the top of the unit.
Most likely the ribbon that goes to the IR sensor detached itself, this is common if the unit is dropped etc. Insert the ribbons (2) re-attach the front panel and the remote should work fine. You'll notice some tape on the IR ribbon, I suggest using some stronger tape, BOSE tape thats not very good.
This happened to me on my 3-2-1 GS II system and fixed it.
Huge! It worked. Note, even though it's not visible, there is a little bit of slack in the ribbon for the remote. You can "pull it out" a little bit. FYI: This is the wider ribbon.
Thanks for this little tip. I found that my IR connector on the power panel with the switches had become de soldered and not touching the contacts. Took me about five min to figure this out by pressing on the connector while plugged in and testing the remote and it worked with pressure. So out came the solder iron and I cleaned the contacts and re set some solder on the board and put it on the circuit. 20 min total and it's all working perfectly. Nice job.

I just have the Bose powered speaker system (lifestyle, I think - 2 speakers and a subwoofer) attached to my airport express. I used to think the problem was with the universal remote control, but reading on this and another forum led to the solution - the problem is with the receiver (this speaker system has a small receiver, about the size of a cigarette pack). Just switch off and switch on the speaker system, and it starts sensing the remote control again.
I just fixed mine using the tape method. the ir receiver was detached. to access the ir ribbon, the silver faceplate must come off, (re plug the unit and eject it, then disconnect it while it's ejected. dvd face plate comes off by detaching the spring loaded clip). once that's off, lift on the top edge and bottom edge of silver faceplate to get it off, then slide it out. the ir ribbon is underneath the top electronic control unit(where the power, eject buttons are). it's easier to unplug it from the the ir using tweezers, but be very careful. once the top controller is out, resecure with tape(i used small strip of duct tape). then re install in reverse...enjoy.
DEAR
YOUR REMOTE MAY OK PROBLEM IS WITH YOUR SYSTEM PL CHECK IR SESOER
THANK YOU
I had this problem too and called Bose and they told me what to do over the phone. It took 1 minute.
Turn off the system
press and hold middle button on the display box - you should see "house code" come up
while holding tap the far left button several times until you see "flash commit"
let go of middle button
press far right button
press on hold the middle button again while press any button on your remote.
turn your system on with your remote
Hope this helps
I just unplugged the acoustimass cable from the main box, waited 10 seconds, reconnected, and everything worked. Essentially reboot the main box.

I have also been having issues with the 321 bose system and I am trying this method now. I have taken out the 6 screws from underneathe the unit and pulled off the top of the unit to access the front panel. I've used a flat head to dislodge the front panel and the dvd drive seems to be stuck as I am trying to full the front panel off. I can see the two ribbons and wider of the two is disconnected but I don't see where it goes nor have access because I don't want to break the front panel off without a manual. Does anyone know a step by step procedure, or did I miss a screw, or does anyone have a manual on these POS units! Thanks.
It worked for me. I had to open the panel only to find that ribon was plugged off. To answer anothe question in this forum on how to it open the panel - there is no such hidden clip or lock. I played around for a bit, twisted and turned till it came out. Everything after that was a cake walk. I'll admit taking the front panel out was the biggest challange. I actually cut my finger doing that :)
THIS WAS GREAT INFO zoozack FIX MY PROBLEM RIGHT AWAY.
THANK YOU.
This really works...my husband and I just did this (took off the "face", found the two front ribbons, made sure both were plugged all the way in and then taped them down just in case) and the remote - or should I say the sensor - is now working perfectly! THANKS!!!
Thanks zoozack. I just fixed my Bose AV321 series 2 with the remote control didn't communicate with media center. There are 6 long screws at the bottom and 3 short crews at the front panel. The connector from IR sensor connects to circuit board by 4 tiny pins, easy to drop out, you need to resolder. And in order to take off the front panel of cd/dvd tray, need to pull bottom first and top after.

Bose needs to quit making stuff in mexico.
After sending my unit back 3x for the same problem of DVDs freezing up, Bose wanted to charge me $100 to fix it again. Now the remote quit working. Does anyone know how to change radio stations manually????

Our Bose stopped working completely. The DVD was stuck (no disc message), so we turned it off but now it won't come back on. Everyone says to remove the six screws on the bottom, but I don't have any screws. I released four pressure clips on the bottom of the face but the face will not slide up or out. Help!
