Could be the fuse inside the microwave is blown. You will need to unplug the microwave and remove the front control panel. Inisde the microwave housing you will need to trace the electrical wire coming into the unit. Usually you will find the in-line fuse located on the black power wire. You can pull the connectors off the fuse and test it with a continuity tester. If the fuse is blown replace it but make sure you use the same amp rated fuse as you removed. If the fuse blows again then there is an electrical short somewhere in the microwave.

Boiling water in my GE Spacemaker Microwave it stopped working and looks as if it is at half power. When activated it makes a half power type noise and the light goes dim. Is this a fuse issue?

Probably not a house fuse. Typically good or bad!! Have you tried it in a totally different outlet?? Could be a bad connection of your circuit breaker to the bus bar in your circuit breaker panel. Try it on an outlet on a different breaker. Or have someone check the power at the outlet when it is running and see if the voltage is dropping.

GE Spacemaker Microwave JVM1441 BH04 tripping circuit breaker

your power transformer for the magnetron could have a shorted primary power winding, the door safety interlock switch could be mis-adjusted,this normally blows the internal unit fuse,a shorted high voltage capacitor,or diode,a bare wire inside the unit, more than the microwave on that circuit or a weak circuit breaker in the house power panel

Microwave won't turn on. Seems like it is not getting power. I checked breaker. I am looking for a fuse. You know where one is? It is a GE Spacemaker(2 yrs old) model # JVM1440WH04

  • Make sure that the microwave is plugged into a grounded outlet. It must be a 3-prong outlet.
  • Make sure the clock is set.
  • Check to see if a programming sequence was entered. Sometimes improper programming or a program sequence such as delay start can cause the touch panel to be non-responsive. Unplug microwave or turn off house circuit breaker for 30 seconds. Plug back in, or reset circuit breaker, and try reprogramming unit.
  • Check the house circuit breaker or fuse box. If the microwave is DEAD and there is no display and nothing works- the problem could be a blown fuse or tripped breaker.

Same problem - panel out - no light

Open and remove outside panel. Inside next to the plug in (power supply) there will be a glass fuse. Look inside the fuse and see if you can see a thin metal wire running across the entire glass tube. If it does not touch end-to-end, then it should be replaced.
If the fuse is good, then you may have faulty power supply or even bad circuit board.

GE SpaceMaker JVM140001 just quit

Same thing happened to our unit. My wife had started cooking potatoes and we left house for an hour. Came back and unit was dead, nothing worked. Verified power @ plug. Unplugged, pulled control panel and checked fuse which is mounted @ top of circuit board (will now refer to as CB), back side of interface panel. It passed continuity test. Inspected wiring and was all intact, no sign of burn thru. Varistor visual also looked good, no discoloration or burns. Removed (5) fasteners that hold CB to interface and inspected back side. Noted minor "blackening" @ pin location #1 of the (5) pin plug immediately beneath fuse. Resoldered because connection looked poor. Plugged back in and tested, all features worked correctly!

Micro stopped working

Try looking at the microswitches behind the door.
