Try this on another PC to confirm if the memory is recognized and detected. If not the player needs to be reset or there are faults within the processor/memory which needs to be estimated with a consensus.

the first computer is infected with a virus that then transferred to your 1Gb Coby MP3 audio player. The virus wrote a script on the MP3, whenever the MP3 is plug to another PC, if will infect the computer and make itself inaccessible so as not to be able to be erased;
hardware, for some reason, the electronics of the MP3 was affected upon removal from the 1st PC;
you could try a format of the MP3 but that of course would delete all of its contents. Since normal recognition of Windows is not possible, pls try to download, install and run HP Flash Utility.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.
I had the same error message and was told by Samsung that I needed to send my MP-3 player to their service center. It would seem that the Hard Drive crashed. I had to get a "Transaction Number" from the Service Rep at Samsung before I could even send the MP-3 back. Mine was out of warranty so it was going to cost me $125.00 for parts and labor to have it fixed.
