I had a computer tech recently add the Hitachi GD-8000 to my computer. I keep getting an error stating something about "this is not a win32 application". I have Windows XP, is this DVD-ROM Drive compatible?

Right click the exe and use Trouble Shooting mode. Use an earlier version of Windows.

Spoke to a local repair shop. The tech told me that there is a wiring harness that has four fans on it. One of the four fans has failed. The complete harness needs to be replaced. There is another risk. Depending on the state of the TV when the fan failed, it might have cost you a bulb as well. The tech quoted me $250 to $300 to repair the television. Add about $120 more for a bulb.

DVD Drive are often sometimes having problems:

1. Example, needs to be cleaned because of dust inside the drive.
2. The drive is not working properly in the system units power cable that's why it is not working.
3. Try to turn off PC remove the drive and clean it
4. After cleaning place it properly, it might help i think.

When you purchase a DVD at that time you got a CD, You download CD material in another computer and copy this material in PAN drive and paste into your system, one driver folder in that material, run the appropriate drivers.
Or another solution is download drivers from Hitachi site, open the internet explorer and type the Hitachi GD 5000 (GD-5000) Internal DVD Drive drivers and download the drivers.
Some time when you restart the system its automatically delected.

This is one of my choices but there are so many
