Hi,

Oh man, that's on old board. I looked for a manual, but the newest post of the book, was back in 2004, and the link isn't any good. But, when looking at the board, look at the lower right side of the board (as you look at it with the expansion slots to the left). You will see a row of double pins.
Usually, on the bottom of that row, there will be some writing that identifies the pins. The power switch pins are labeled PS and the reset is labeled RS or RST. The Hard Drive Lite is HDD,

Hover your mouse cursor on the Download tab.
(Overview / Specification / Download / Support / etc)

In the drop down list click on - Manual

Now click on the blue -> M7309V1.2.zip
Click on the country name nearest yours.

A small window will come up on the right -
Opening M7309v1.2.zip

Make SURE there is a Green dot in the small circle, to the left of Save File.
If not left-click once in the small empty circle, to the left of Save File

Now go below in the window, and click on OK.
A small window will come up on the left. Allow the file to download all the way.
Now DOUBLE-click right on the file name.

In the next small window go to the left side, and click on -
Extract all files
At the bottom of the next three small windows, left-click on
Next, Next, and Finish.

In the last small window go to the file name next to the red Adobe PDF icon, and DOUBLE-click on it.

Go to Page 8.
Motherboard Layout

The front of your computer is the Front Panel.
The area of contact pins on the motherboard, that the main wires from the Front Panel go to, is the Front Panel header.

JFP1 is the Front Panel header.
JFP2 is an additional header. To be discussed after JFP1.

JFP1 is on the Right/Bottom corner. It is placed Vertically.
(Parallel to the right bottom edge of the motherboard)

Above it's left corner is JUSB2. (Front Panel USB header 2)
Above JUSB2 is the SATA2 connector. To the left of the SATA2 connector is the SATA1 connector.
To the left of the SATA1 connector is the CMOS battery.

The contact pins are arranged in two columns.
4 pins on the Left side, 5 pins on the Right side.

Go to Page 14. JFP1 pinout, and JFP2 pinout, is at the Bottom of the page.

JFP1:
Starting on the Bottom going towards the Top, Right side;
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9

Starting at the Bottom going towards the Top, Left side'
Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8.

A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the HarDDrive activity LED. (Light)
Pin 1 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
IF the HDD LED is dim when the harddrive is active, switch the wires around.

B) Pins 5 and 7 are for a Reset switch, IF a Reset switch is used.

C) Pin 9 is N/C. Not Connected. (Probably 5 Volts positive, and used by the factory only)

D) Pins 2 and 4 are for the Power On LED. (Light)
Pin 2 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
IF the PWR ON LED is dim when the computer is on, switch the wires around.

E) Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch.

JFP2:
Below JFP1 is a header that is placed Horizontally. It is parallel to the Bottom edge of the motherboard. This header with 13 pins in it, is the JLPC1 header.
(Starting on left side at the Top row; 4 pins, no pin, 2 pins.
Starting on the left side at the Bottom row; 7 pins)

To the left of the JLPC1 header is the JFP2 header.
4 pins across the Top row, 3 pins across the Bottom row.

The top 4 pins across the top are for an internal speaker. Used to hear BIOS Beep Codes.
Starting on the Left side coming towards the Right, top row;
Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8.
No indication of polarity.
Believe pin 2 is for the Positive wire, and pin 8 is for the Negative wire.

Starting on the Left side coming towards the Right, Bottom row:
Pins 1, 3, and 5.

These pins are ONLY used for a Power On LED light, that has 3 wires.
Used for a dual color Power On LED.
(One example; Green Turbo, Yellow normal)

The rest of the pinouts are listed in the manual.

Emachine W3410,the main three wire from the motherboard to the power botton on and off switch was remove and iam not sure wish pin they go to .power led, power sw, H.D.D.led,

The eMachines W3410 uses an MSI ms-7145 motherboard.
Also known as RS480M

To the Right of the photo of the motherboard, you will see a gray bar with, BIOS, Driver, Utility, Manual, and RSS.
Left-click on Manual.

On the next page look under the heading to the right - Document.
Left-click on the blue - E7145v2.1.zip

On the final page click on the country nearest yours.
A small window will come up with the heading -
Opening E7145v2.1.zip

Be sure that Save File has a green dot, in the empty circle to the left.
[If not, Left-click on the empty circle to the left of Save File]
Now click on OK, below.

Where this file will go.
If you Do Not, have your documents set to save to your My Documents folder (Documents for Vista), the file will go to your desktop screen.

In either place Double-click on the file. Now go up to the left, and click on - Extract All Files.
Click on Next, and Finish.

You will now see a PDF icon. Double-click on this icon.
Go to Page 15.

The plastic panel on the front of your computer is the Front Panel.
This is where the Power On switch, Power On LED, and HDD LED are located.

The connector on the motherboard where the cables (Wires) attach to, is the Front Panel header.
The front panel header is a series of pins, sticking up out of the motherboard.

The MSI ms-7145 motherboard, (RS480M) has the Front Panel header separated into two headers.

JFP1, and JFP2

Looking at the motherboard with the Processor socket to the top, and the Ram Memory slots to the right, the JFP1, and JFP2 front panel headers are located at the extreme bottom Right, of the motherboard.

[Use the Zoom In feature (+ at top of file) to enlarge the motherboard layout on Page 15]

Now go to Page 38.
Page 38 shows the connections for the JFP1, and JFP2 headers.

The JFP1 header, and the JFP2 header, consists of two rows of pins in a horizontal column.
The pins are arranged parallel, to the bottom edge of the motherboard.

Right above the JFP1, and JFP2 header may be three pins, with two of the pins have a jumper. We will not concern ourselves with this jumper header (BIOS with Protect Jumper)

The JFP1, and JFP2 headers are close together. There is no separation in-between them.

The JFP2 header is for an internal speaker.
The JFP1 header is for the Front Panel cables.

The JFP1 header pins start from the right side of the motherboard, and go towards the left.

There are 5 pins across the Bottom. (Going from right to left)
There is NO pin, then there are 4 pins across the Top.
(Again, going from Right towards the left)

The top row of pins are numbered Evenly.
The bottom row of pins are numbered Odd.

Starting on the Right side, going towards the left for the Top row of pins, the pins are numbered,
10 (NO pin for 10), 8, 6, 4, and 2.

Starting on the Right side, going towards the left for the Bottom row of pins, the pins are numbered,
9, 7, 5, 3, and 1.

1) Pins 2 and 4 are for the Power On LED.

2) Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch

3) Pins 1 and 3 are for the HarDDrive activity LED

4) Pins 5 and 7 are used for a Reset switch. (If applicable)

5) Pin 9 is not used.

I NEED DRAWING FOR THE FRONT PANEL CONNECTION

Download the manual for you're MSI PM8M-V motherboard from MSI; http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=searchresult&keywords=PM8M-V&table=download
You will need to download and install Adobe reader to view the manual. Download Adobe; http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/
Open manual to page 9. See Front Panel Connectors: JFP1 & JFP2. There is no need to connect JFP2's Power LED jumper, this is completed at JFP1. Each wire jumper coming from the case will have one wire color in common with all connectors except the speaker jumper. That common colored wire will be use as negative.
The speaker wire commonly as red is positive and black is negative.

Power switch,reset switch,power led connections to motherboard?

Hi ramjet007;

This is strange because MSI doesn't have information on the 7548, since it was made directly for HP. Here is a diagram of another MSI similiar and usually they have their pins on their jumpers pretty much the same. You would use JFP1, And Pin's 1&3 would be the hard drive, 2 & 4 would be the LED, 6 & 8 would be the power switch, and 5&7 would be the reset switch. I know your motherboard is setup differnently, but your JFP1 should be in the right hand corner all by itself.

This is MSI/Support and the download page for the MSI MS-7104 V1.0

Granted, it's not the 2.0 version, but the Front Panel header is the same.

Click on the button with the countries name that is closest to you. I clicked on U.S.
If you don't have your downloads set, to download to your My Documents folder, it will go to your desktop.

Double-click on the file name. You will see the Extraction Wizard come up.

Go up to the top left, and click on Extract All Files.
Now you will see a PDF file on your desktop screen, with the file name under it. Double-click on this PDF file.

After you have opened it, and everything is there, you can go back to the Zip file on your desktop screen, right-click on it, and delete it.
Delete it from your Recycle Bin also, or it will be taking up needless room on your harddrive.

Orient the view of the motherboard, so we are both looking at it the same way.
The processor is at the Top/Middle, and to the very bottom right, is the JFP1 header. (Connector on a motherboard is called a header)
Over to the left of the JFP1 header is the JFP2 header. Looks to be about one inch over from the JFP1 header.

We'll start with the JFP1 header.
The JFP1 header has 4 pins across the Top. Then there is a place for a pin. No pin for where no.5 would be.
The JFP1 header has 5 pins across the Bottom.

The pins across the Top are numbered -> 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10, but there is NO, No.10 pin.

The pins across the Bottom are numbered -> 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9

Pins 2 and 4 are for the Power LED light. It doesn't have which pin is the Positive (+) but I suspect it's Pin 2.

Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch. Doesn't matter which way they go, it's a switch.

Pins 1 and 3 are for the HDD activity light. I suspect Pin 1 is the Positive (+) connection.

Pins 5 and 7 are for the Reset switch. (If you have a Reset button. If not, don't sweat it)

Pin 9 is not used.

JFP2 header:
The JFP2 header has 4 pins across the Top. They are numbered
2, 4, 6, and 8.

There are 3 pins across the Bottom.
They are numbered 1, 3, and 5. There is no No.7 pin.

Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8 are used for an internal speaker. This speaker would be used to hear any BIOS Beep Codes. I suspect No. 2 pin is the positive (+)

Pins 1, 3, and 5 are used for the Power LED. I suspect what they're indicating, is an LED used to show Turbo Boost. In actuality I'm not sure. If your Power LED has a connector with three socket holes, it goes here. If your Power LED has two socket holes, it goes to the JFP1 header, and to Pins 2 and 4.

Lost in the wiring :(

Hi bossman9628A, normally its the wire colors that messes everyone up when trying to connect the front case wires to the motherboard. The MSI RX480 Neo2-F, AKA MS-7151 MB is no different but does use a second set of pins just to help you get more confused.
Gather up all your case wires. You'll notice there is one color that is common. Chances are that color is white & is being used for the ground wire. Other colors like blue, green, red, light blue, light green & light red ECT are used for positive. The speaker uses black for ground/negative.
So looking at JFP1 at pin 1 is positive +. Pin 3, which is to the right of pin 1 is negative -.
The manual does show you which pin is negative & which is positive. Pin 1 = (HD_LED_P). The _P stands for positive.
Pin 3 = (HD_LED_N). The _N stands for negative. Do not connect the Power led at JFP2. Keep the power led connected at JFP1.
Do connect the case speaker at JFP2. Most cases do use 2-pin connectors but others use 3 & 4 pin connectors. If your case is such you can remove a wire from a connector by using a decent needle. There is a small black tab that you can pull towards your self while pulling the wire out. You can than slide the wire back into the connector where you need it. You'll know the wire is inserted correctly because you'll hear or feel it snap into the connector. If by sme chance you get a led backwards, don't freak out. The leds use 5v DC. Just shut down the system & turn that led 180deg & reconnect it.
