when your fiting it to the motor you will need turm the motor with your hand to get it to seat for the bolts to fit in

Your deck should have a couple "idler" pulleys on them in addition to the main mandrell pulleys that have tension on them via springs to keep tension on your deck belt. Maybe you need to really examine the condition of those "idler" pulleys and also the main pulleys to find the problem.

The drive belt is the topmost belt, next to the frame of the tractor. So jack up the front end, lower the deck and take a look at the engine shaft if there is a loose/broken belt laying up there. If so then you are right. You will have to remove the deck to replace the belt. There is a spring loaded tensioner, released by the brake pedal, so you will need a confederate to hold the pedal down for the last step of install. Begin by putting the belt around the big pulley on top of the transmission first, then the engine pulley. If the belt is in place then you most likely have a fried transmission and they are so expensive prepare to get another mower.

Could be a broken belt, loose belt (stretched) or something is under the mower deck jamming the blades. (stick for an example)

Make sure the mower rake angle is not too much,On level floor point one of the blades in a front rear orientation,measure height of blade from floor the front measurement should be no more than 1/4" lower than the rear measurement.If the front of the mower is too low the angle the belt has to run is too much and the belt will twist and wear rap[idly.To raise the front of the deck there are either one or two adjustment rods that attach the front of mower deck to frame tighten this adjustment up to raise the front of mower deck.
