PS3 Problem HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have, to my knowledge, correctly connected the PS3 with the TV using AV cables and an HDMI cable. Everything else has been correctly connected as well. Here's what happens when it doesn't turn on:
1) I flip the back switch On, and slide my finger over the front On sensor.
2) I hear the fans quickly, for only part of a second, start working, then suddenly shut down again, never coming back on for the rest of the session.
3) I notice that the HDD light near the USB ports are not on.
4) I notice that only the green light is On; this is on the PS3's front.
5) During all this, the screen is completely black, displaying no menu at all, and there is no audio.

Here's what happens when it does turn on:

1) I turn it on with the sensor
2) As usual, a little static comes on for the image(signaling that that session will turn on the PS3), and the PS3 menu starts to load. Fans go on, then immediately turn off.
3) The HDD light blinks a little and then is gone.
4) Following this, the screen will freeze in a matter of seconds or a few minutes. I cannot perform any updates.
5) I would then have to hold down the power button for 15 seconds to allow the system to turn off sustaining a solid red light. If it doesn't freeze, it turns off by itself, sustaining a flashing red light.

SOURCE: PS3 either won't turn on, or freezes immediately. HELP!!!!

OK it sounds like a problem I had with one of the units that came into my shop, I do believe you will need a new part which means you will need to break the seal. I suggest you call sony and see what they say and what they will do for you. 1-800-345-SONY (7669)
If they want to charge you id say forget it and try it yourself.
i can send you a guide to help you fix it.

I am thinking a sensor board or a power supply could be others and its hard since its not in my face but let me know what sony says and letss fix this baby.

I do also buy broken ps3s and can help you find a steal on a used or new unit!

Can't get the play station to work with the tv. The av is plugged in correctly and the ps is turned on. Don't know which channel to go to, and when EXT we tried all different inputs and it still doesn't...

Which generation playstation are you referring to The PS2 or PS3. The PS2 would be connected with a composite cable by default i.e red white and yellow cable. Connect the cable to the corresponding input on the TV, match color codes. Switch to correct input by using your remote controller. Press the AV button and a list of inputs come's up.Select av1 or av2 and check if you get a picture. If you use a ps3 then same as before press AV button on remote and select appropriate option on screen HDMI,Component or Composite.

HDMI looks like this

How do i connect a playstation 3 to a philips tv

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) is a high-definition gaming console that supports both standard AV connections and high-resolution connections (such as HDMI). Most of the older Philips TVs come with a standard AV input. Newer, flat-panel Philips TVs include standard AV inputs and high-resolution inputs. To get the best video quality out of your PS3, using an HDMI connection is recommended if the option is available. The PS3 does not include an HDMI cable, only a standard AV cable

Standard AV
  • 1 Turn off the PS3.
  • 2 Connect the flat end of the PS3 AV cable into the "AV Multi Out" port on the back of the PS3.
  • 3 Connect the "red," "white" and "yellow" prongs on the opposite end of the PS3 AV cable into the corresponding "red," "white" and "yellow" AV inputs on the TV (usually located on the side or in the back).
  • 4 Press the "Source" button on the Philips TV remote.
  • 5 Select the "AV" video display mode.
  • 6 Turn on the PS3. The PS3 logo will appear on the screen.
  • HDMI Connection

PS3 doesn't work with tv anymore

did you move the ps3 while it was on. If you did the reset for AV should repair both the AV problem and your HDMI as well. Shoot me a message back if it works or doesn't.

    Thx

Console starts up and I can hear but shows no picture.

make sure video cable is plugged in all the way on back of ps3. the a/v cable is little tricky. it looks like its plugged all the way but its not. also if doesnt work, if u have hdmi cable use it then go to display settings, then connetions. set it up as av cable connection then it will ask about audio - av rca connetions. and save. now its set up as av cables and then when u use hdmi it will automatically set up hdmi.

Av connections not giving signal to tv

you have to manually change the output in the settings menu back to ANALOG Using an HDMI TV or monitor 1st, when you select RCA, or AV output and restart, it will work, but when you switch back, you have to change it (back to HDMI output) on the analog monitor, or use analog TV inputs, then reboot PS3 and connect HDMI.
I do not know why Sony did not make this switch automatic and self scanning on boot, but alas I have had the same issue, so I know this is your problem, not the AV cables.

Please give a fixya rating if you find this solves your problem, Thanks for the question

    Ps3 hdmi cable with adapterto tv's rca's

Just use the regular AV cords. They are 480i using an HDMI to this and that isn't going to improve picture quality.

I need to know how to run my ps3 thru the optical wire to my hdtv

Before you start ensure that you read the TV instruction manual to know which resolution supports it. Do not switch on the TV and your console

You can connect your Playstation 3 to your TV in three different methods:

    1. Connecting with an AV cable
    2. Connecting with an HDMI cable
    3. Connecting with an Optical Cable

    Connecting with an AV Cable:

    1. You are supplied with a Composite AV cable which would typically look like the below image
    2. Connect the AV Multi Out Connector to the socket on the back of your PS3 Console.
    3. Match the colors of the Jacks with the connectors on the TV which says "Video in".

    Connecting with an HDMI Cable:

HDMI cable is not supplied with the PS3. You need to purchase it seperately. This cable would enhance the audio-video quality of your TV.

    1. Just connect one end of the connector to the HDMI OUT connector socket on the back of the console
    2. Connect the other end to the socket on the back of your TV which says HDMI IN.

    Connecting with an Optical cable:

You need to purchase an Optical cable if you wish to connect your PS3 console through a digital audio device (Home theater, AV receiver etc.,). You need to connect Video ouput seperately with a help of Video output cable (HDMI, AV Cable etc.,)

    1. Connect one end of the optical cable to "Audio Out" socket on the console
    2. Connect the other end to the audio receiver.

Note: You can also connect your console to the Internet to use the Playstation 3 internet capabilities. Here's how you do it:

The Playstation 3 only supports 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T type networks. It needs a High speed internet connection. Do not connect it to a standard telephone connection or cables that are not supported. It might cause a malfunction or damage to the system.
