Mass Storage Device (or MSD) is also referred to as Mass Storage Class (MSC) or Universal Mass Storage (UMS). It's the mode that makes the Sansa work like a hard drive (flash drive, thumb drive). There are two modes, MSC and MTP, the more automated mode that communicates with Windows Media Player.

SANSA E260 ENTER USB 2.0 MSD MODE

if you go into the setting section of the menu you can select the USB mode back again, if this fails to solve the problem, take the back of the player off via 4 very small phillips screws and remove the battery for at least 30 seconds then put it back in and it should be good.

MSD mode

Magnosta,

On the e250, from the main menu, select Settings, then there should be a selection for USB Mode. From there, you can select either MTP mode or MSC mode, which I think is what you meant. See if that helps.

No memory

The MEMORY was lost? ie: Did you physically lose 2/4/6 Gb of usable memory or did you lose the FILES in memory?? I would go to the SanDisk site and download the latest firmware update. Also be sure that you are using a "high power" USB port (USB 2.0 usually) and that the player's USB setting is set to MTP mode.
