You can try two things if you havent already go to the options and switch the wii to HDTV from the options menu (if you have a HDTV) or if you have a glare anywhere that hits the tv or is hitting your remote block sunlight from that area if these two do not work you sensor bar is broke or your wii remote sensor is broke.

Cant get the cursor to show on screen

Make sure that your Sensor Bar is connected properly and that there is no damage to the wire connect it to the Wii.

You may have to place the Sensor Bar else where and reconfigure it to work again.

-Connect the Sensor Bar under Wii Console in the left menu.
tip

How to connect you Wii to your TV, Out of the Box.

After getting everything out of the box, decide on where you want to put your Wii. It should be near your TV and near an electrical outlet. You can either lay the Wii flat or sit it on its side. If you’re laying it flat, move on to step 2, Connect the Cables. If you want to place the Wii in a vertical position you should use the Wii Console stand, which is the gray base unit. Attach the console plate to the bottom of the stand, put it on your shelf and then place the Wii on it so the beveled edge of the console aligns with the beveled edge of the stand.
There are three cables that connect to the Wii: the AC Adapter (a.k.a. power cord); the A/V connector (which has three colored plugs on one end); and the Sensor Bar. The plug of each is distinctly shaped, so each cable plug will only fit in one port in the back of the Wii. (The two small, same-sized ports are for USB devices – ignore them for now). Plug the AC Adapter into the largest of the three ports. Plug the Sensor Bar plug into the small red port. Plug the A/V Cable into the remaining port.
To connect your Wii to your television, find the sockets on your TV that, like the A/V Cable, are colored yellow, white and red. The sockets are generally on the back of the TV, although you might also find them on the side or front. You may have more than one set of ports, in which case you can use any of them. Insert each plug into a port of the same color.
The sensor bar can be placed either on top of your TV or right below the screen, and should be centered with the middle of the screen. There are two sticky foam pads on the bottom of the sensor; remove the plastic film covering them and gently press the sensor into place.
Next, simply plug the AC adapter into a wall socket or a power strip. Push the power button on the console. A green light on the power button will appear. The remote comes in a rubber jacket, designed to protect it, which you will have to partially peal off in order to open the battery door. Put in the batteries, close the battery cover and pull the jacket back on. Now push the A button on the remote to make sure it is working (a blue light will appear at the bottom of the remote).
The Wii remote that comes with your Wii is already synced up, meaning your console will communicate properly with the remote. If you have purchased any additional remotes, you’ll have to sync them up yourself. To do this, remove the battery cover from the remote and press and release the red SYNC button inside. Then open the little door in the front of the Wii where you will find another red SYNC button, which you should also press and release. If a blue light goes on at the bottom of the remote then it is synced up. When using the remote, slip the Wii remote wrist strap around your hand first. Sometimes when people are waving their remote around it slips out of their hand and breaks something.
Turn on your TV. Set your TV input for the input channel your Wii is plugged into. This can usually be done through a button on your television remote generally called “tv/video” or “input select.” Read any onscreen text. This will be either a warning, in which case you can press the A button, or a request for information, such as whether the sensor is above or below your TV and what the date is. Point the remote straight at the screen. You will see a cursor similar to the mouse cursor on a computer. The “A” button does the equivalent of a mouse click.
Once you have answered all the questions you are ready to play games. Push a game disc into the disc slot; the illustrated side of the CD should face away from the power button.
The main Wii screen shows a bunch of TV screen-shaped boxes, and clicking on the top left one will take you to the game screen. Click the START button and begin playing.

Have re-booted, re-synced numerous times, held red button simultaneously, one at a time, etc. Everything with the remote works except the cursor. Can move to the right and left by using the +/- buttons,...

Your sensor bar is messed up a replacement on ebay is less then $6. Your controllers arent the problems. Also do you have the sensor bar ontop or bottom of your tv? Theres a setting on the wii to change the sensor bar from top or bottom of the tv depending on where youve put it. 99% sure its a bad sensor bar though.

Wii remotes wont show hand cursor on tbv screen

If using the Wii IR bar, ensure that it is plugged into the red socket in the back of the Wii and that the bar is setting on top of or below your TV. If you are using an aftermarket wireless IR bar, ensure that it has good batteries and is turned on.

Finally, be sure that you are standing about 3-5 feet away from the TV and aiming the Wii

Note that the buttons on the Wiimote are transmitted to the Wii console via Bluetooth, and the cursor position on the screen is based in the inputs from two IR (Infrared) lights that you can't see inside the IR Bar.

Good luck!

Wii remote will not follow command.

It's problem a radio interference, since the wii controller uses radio frequences to contact the device, try to resync the wii controller.

1. Turn the Wii console on and wait until the "Health & Safety" screen appears (don't press A).

2. Open the SD Card slot cover on the front of the Wii console, just below the disc drive, and press and hold the red SYNC button for 15 seconds. This will clear all synced Wii Remotes from the console.

3. Resync the Wii Remote by removing the battery cover and pressing the red "SYNC" button. Do this for all Wii Remotes you wish to use, and test for proper response.

4. If the steps above do not work, remove the batteries of the Wii Remote and leave them out for at least 2 or 3 minutes. Reinsert the batteries and sync the Wii Remote again. Test for proper response.
If after removing the batteries for several minutes, and resyncing the Wii Remote, your still unable to get the Wii Remotes to work, try syncing another Wii Remote if available.

* If another Wii Remote works, then your previous Wii Remote will need to be repaired.

Wii remote cursor does not show on TV

Your remote's infrared receiver is broken. This is why the cursor / hand won't show up on the TV. The + and - buttons operate over bluetooth, which explains why they are still working.

If the remote is under warranty you should send it back to Nintendo to repair. If not, I suggest just buying another remote as it will cost more to repair than replace.

Wii Remotes

Could it be an issue with your sensor bar on top of the TV? That could explain why you'd be having the issue with more than one remote all of a sudden.

Cursor does not appear

exchange it

    Cursor not appearing
Please note that our experience shows that this troubleshooting is best performed using only one (1) Wii Remote at a time.
  • Some games do not use the cursor feature of the Wii Remote; Make sure the game you are attempting to play uses the cursor by reading the game's instruction manual. You can also exit out of the game to return to the Channel Menu and use the Wii Remote to see the cursor. If the cursor still does not appear, continue with the steps below.

  • Trying to use multiple Wii Remotes in the Mii Channel or Photo Channel? These Channels only allow the Wii Remote designated as "Player 1" to function.

  • Verify that the Wii Remote's pointer lens is free of obstructions and contamination (stickers, heavy smudges, etc.). The pointer lens is the tinted rectangle at the end of the Wii Remote.

  • Check the battery power level by turning off the Wii console, then opening the battery cover of the Wii Remote. Press and release the red "SYNC" button to check battery strength. The number of lights flashing indicates the Wii Remote's battery strength. Four flashing lights indicates full strength. Our experience has shown that as your battery strength decreases to one (1) or less lights flashing, the cursor may not appear. For troubleshooting, if possible, try using fresh batteries so that all four lights illuminate. For guidelines on using batteries, please click here. If after inserting brand new batteries, you are still seeing less than all four LEDs flash, then your Wii Remote will need to be repaired. Please click here for repair information.

  • Is the Wii Remote properly synced?
Press the POWER button on the Wii Remote to see if the Wii console powers on.
    • If it does, the Wii Remote is synced with the system. Please skip to the next section.
    • If the power doesn't come on, power on the system manually and try syncing the Wii Remote.
      • If the Wii Remote will not sync, there is likely a problem with the Wii Remote. Please click here for repair information.
      • If the Wii Remote will sync and the cursor still does not appear, try another Wii Remote if possible.
        • If at least one Wii Remote is working, there is likely a problem with the first Wii Remote and it will need to be repaired. Please click here for repair information.
        • If you have only one Wii Remote, or none that are working, please continue troubleshooting.

  • Make sure that the Wii Remote is being used between 3' and 10' directly in front of the TV and that there are no bright light sources affecting the Wii Remote's operation (review Game Play Guidelines for more information), and that the Sensor Bar is placed properly (see Sensor Bar setup).
  • Check the cord on the Sensor Bar for any frayed wires or kinks, and verify that the Sensor Bar is free of obstructions.
  • Check the button functionality, and that the Sensor Bar is operating correctly, by accessing the Wii Main Menu. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to scroll side-to-side through the Wii Channel screens.
    • If you are able to scroll with the "+" and "-" buttons, but the cursor is not appearing, then there is likely a problem with the Sensor Bar. Please click here for additional Sensor Bar information.
    • If there is no response, there is likely a problem with the Wii Remote. Please click here for repair information.
