I have a Sony SLV-EZ717

My parents taped a program for my son. When we play it back on our vcr it seems to be in fast forward mode. The voices are like chipmunks and the vision is just black and white lines.

This has happened before. I do not know what to do to play it correctly

Thanks

Thanks so much for that - I thought there was something I could do to fix the one I have.

I will try to get my parents to tape on a different speed.

    Thanks again

This model has long play. Try adjusting the track, there should be buttons on the front of the unit.

It sounds like the taped program was recorded on a different speed. The other VCR that you are playing the taped program may not have the speed needed to play it correctly.
Next time when you record a program try to make sure you use a speed that will be compatible on both VCRs.
For example a tape that last 120 minutes, using the different speeds will give the following recording times.
SP means "Standard Play" >>>> 2 hours
LP means " Long Play" >>>>> 4 hours
ELP means " Extra Long Play" 8 hours

Older VCRs have all the 3 speeds but newer ones only have SP and ELP.
Hope this helps.

I have a Panasonic omnimovie Pv-610 and only one of my vhs tapes plays in fast forward mode, how can I fix?

If you mean just the one and the rest then it was probably recorded in Extended Play mode and nothing can be done.
Otherwise please explain your issues in more detail.

Tape is playing back in fast forward only

Hello,

It is possible the tape loaded on the wrong side of the drive. If you romove the tape, look for slack and tighten up, try it again or another tape. Otherwise it is likely that a spring for the pressure roller is off or broken. This is not easially repairable.

Sony VCR ''Eats the Tape'' Model SLV-N750. It plays and records but doesn't release tape. It does not repond after I try to run forward or back and does not advance on ''Play'' but shuts off. Is there any...

If this unit is 4-7 years old then TOSS it. As time goes by the rubber gets soft and the units timing gets whacked. Repair will be more than what it's worth , unless your emotionally attached to it ...

My VCR tapes skip or only play in fast forward

If you are recording the tapes in a slow speed, then I would suspect that the tracking pulse is not being recorded properly. Since this is a new VCR, return it for an exchange. One of the recording heads is bad.

Sony SLV-940HF VCR Will not accept tape

Dear Rob, There can be two reasons for your problem.Let us consider the simpler and most likely cause.....Belts!!! Unplug the Plug from the Power socket. Open up the top and bottom Panels.Check the belts. Most likely you will find a belt has snapped ( a 80% possibility) or become very very loose. Also check the Tape Loading mechanism, there is a small belt which connects from the Loading motor to the Loading Mechanism. Replace the belts as a entire set. Let me know if this worked out. Good Luck.

VCR plays for a few seconds and rewinds. Now, the VCR plays tape in fast forward mode

Most everyone I know had problems with the tv/vcr combo including myself. I'll never buy one again. I'm sorry you are having the same problem.
