Hi, super heat and sub cooling are forms of system pressures. If they are not correct, they cant burn out a compressor. Different size compressors require different settings. For instance, to check the super heat on a running a/c, install manifold gauges. Write down what your pressure is on the low side gauge is for instance like 65 p.s.i. Now convert it to temperature. It will tell you on the scale right under the 65 lets say for freon R-22 would be at 38 degrees. You will need a digital thermometer to strap to the suction line of the unit you are checking. If the temperature of the line was lets say, 45 degrees, you would subtract 38 degrees from line temp of 45 and your super heat would be 7 degrees. Sub cooling is a hole different ball game. You have to be a certified tech to even check freon pressures and what you are asking. There is no set capacity I can give you. You have to set these conditions when charging any air conditioning. I hope this has cleared up your question? Best of luck,

Need answer here what does 89 mean on home thermostat please give answer here

Hello -

The number displaying on a home thermostat is the ambient temperature (Farhrenheit, I assume) of the room or home. When it is set to heating, that is the temperature the thermostat operator wishes to heat the space. When it is set to air conditioning, that is the temperature to which the thermostat operator wishes to cool the space.

Best wishes.

Tips on changing orifice size on AC or heatpump

Tips on changing orifice size on air conditioners and heat pumps.
A smaller orifice will create these changes
1 - Takes more refrigerant charge to get the same superheat
2 - Increases capacity
3 - Decreases Energy Efficiency Ratio
4 - Increases Head pressure
5 - Increases sub cooling
6 - Reduces suction pressure
7 - Increases Watts and Amps
A Larger orifice will create these changes
1 - Takes less refrigerant charge to get the same superheat
2 - Decreases Capacity
3 - Increases Energy Efficiency Ratio
4 - Decreases head pressure
5 - Decrease Sub cooling
6 - Increases suction pressure
7 - Reduces Watts and Amps

What range should your super heat be on txv ?

I normally don't take a superheat reading when I have a txv. That can fool you. A sub cooling reading is the best when a txv has been installed. I've seen normal temp readings of 0° superheat and 16-20° sub cooling with "factory specs". And that was normal! That valve will open and close changing superheat values. Sub cooling is the way to go! Find some manufacturer specs if possible.
