Oven burns things, very hot on bottom

A previous post suggested the oven temp sensor may need replaced but:
If the oven temp sensor is not working, would the temp light still work? (the light that goes out when the oven reaches temp), Mine goes out but the oven seems to keep getting hotter.
If the light goes out and oven still burns things, would that indicate a problem other than the temp sensor?

The temp indicator light goes on and off according to the temp selected.
The sensor referred to is part and parcel of the the thermostat, or temp selector
the fact the light goes on and off, shows that the thermostatt is working, but neccesserily at the correct temp.I maintain that the thermostat that controls the temp is faulty, and needs to be replaced.

I have GE model#JKP45WOP2WG double oven wall unit. Lower oven isn't heating up properly. Bottom of lower oven doesn't seem as hot as the top of the oven... replaced oven sensor, not

Most double wall ovens are technically two separate oven boxes. The lower oven box has its bake, boil elements, high limit thermostat and ofcourse its own oven sensor. If the lower oven box boil is working good and less heat on bake feature may suggest that the bake element is burned out and only getting preheated with boil element. Just a suggestion here

Everything burns before it is done in the oven

You will need to replace the temp. sensor inside the oven. If you could post your model number I can direct you to the part you need.

My Maytag MGR5750ADW oven will take forever to preheat. It does get hot, but the preheat light takes a very long time to go out. Food takes much longer to cook as the oven does not seem to get up to temp.

Hello there and welcome to fixya
When the food you're baking is done on top but not on the bottom--or when baking just takes far too long to finish--the bake element may be burned out. You may get fooled into thinking it's working, because the oven is hot inside. But many electric ovens use the broil element, too, during the preheat and bake cycles. So the food may be getting heated only by the broil element, which causes poor baking results. If the bake element is burned out, replacing it should solve the problem. To determine if the heating element is burned out, watch the part testing video at the bottom of this page. Otherwise, you need to further troubleshoot the oven's electrical system to locate the defective wire or component. When the temperature is consistent but too high or too low, it could be one of several different things. First check to see if the thermostat sensing bulb has come loose from its holder. It could be lying on the floor of the oven or resting on the heating element. This would cause the oven to not heat correctly. If the thermostat bulb is not dislodged, it's likely that the thermostat or sensor is either mis-calibrated or defective. Electronic ovens with a digital display use a sensor to monitor oven temperature. To solve temperature problems for these models, you may need to replace the sensor. On some digital-display models, you can calibrate the temperature using the key pad. See your operator's manual for details. Ovens without a digital display often use a mechanical system for controlling temperature. On many of these units, you can remove the thermostat knob and adjust the knob itself to more accurately represent the actual setting of the thermostat. If, when you remove the knob, there's a screw on the back of it with a small calibration plate, you can loosen the screw, adjust the plate, then tighten the screw again. If the knob isn't adjustable, and the oven temperature is off by more than 30 to 40 degrees, you need to replace the thermostat to solve the problem.

My Frigidaire FEFL77ABF gets way too hot. When set at 350, temp soars to over 450. Have cleaned oven and tried resetting procedure, but neither worked. High temps are not consistent, so I can't...

Hi

This means a loose/broken wire on the oven temp sensor or the oven temp. sensor itself is bad and should be replaced. To solve this issue test the oven temp. sensor, it should read between 1080-1120 ohms, if the rating is more then that and the door appears to be closing fine then it is the control board that is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

We have a GE gas oven/stove top and the stove top is lighting as well as the broiler but we can not get the oven to heat up. What do you suggest we try?

i just moved and our stove in the new place doesnt bake things right. it seems that the top coil doesnt come on. its very difficult to bake anything. seems to come up to temp for pre heating, but only the bottom coil comes on. If you put it on broil, then the top coil gets hot. that works fine. tired of burning pizzas and biscuits. can anyone help with a cheap fix? dont have alot of cash.

Oven is burning food and seems too hot

HI. the oven temp sensor is malfunctioning. have it inspected for damage. check the wires leading from the control to the sensor for cuts and damage as well. replace the sensor if these issues with heating persist.

F2 Oven overheats

jaz3133, it's probably the temp sensor that has gone bad. You should be able to get it from the front. It's the probe that comes out from the back wall of the oven. You can have someone ohm it out. Should read approx 1100 ohms at room temp. Part number for the temp sensor is WB20K5040. Make sure power is off befor removing the sensor. Catriver..post back.

Error message

Webgenie, the code should read F3, which indicates a open oven sensor (over 2900 ohms). The sensor should ohm out at 1080 ohms at room temp. Best thing to do is replace the oven temp. sensor. Easy job..Catriver..post back.
