I just took apart mine and found the same problem. Broil and range work fine but nothing when the bake function is used. I pulled the heating coil and it showed open (infinite resistance). This could well be your problem too. Pull out the drawer on the bottom and you'll see where the coil connects. Pull it and check resistance with an ohm meter. If it shows open, that's probably your problem. It was pretty easy to pull and shouldn't be too tough to reconnect either.

How do I replace the bottom element of my GE oven?

Hundreds of GE ovens, so can't give procedure, but problem is not necessarily the element - could be switch, connection to element, etc. Google GE (model #) lower element not heating.

I have a GE oven, model #JTP15W0W2W, serial #SS605844R that the bottom heating element does not work and the screen flashes F2. I contacted GE and they recommended I change out the bottom heating element,...

Ge should know their own codes. F2 for GE means oven control senses overheat over 600 degrees
Go here for code desciption . You should be able to fix youself

Lower coil will not heat.

Hi

If the lower wont heat and the upper work fine then it is the coil itself that is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Bottom coil does not heat. Top coil for broiling works ok

Check your fuses - both on the oven and in your breaker box.

Most likely the bottom coil has quit. Replacement is usually quite easy.

With the power off - you remove the screws at the back of the coil and disconnect the power lines. Bring to appliance center and they can match size/shape.

We have a GE gas oven/stove top and the stove top is lighting as well as the broiler but we can not get the oven to heat up. What do you suggest we try?

i just moved and our stove in the new place doesnt bake things right. it seems that the top coil doesnt come on. its very difficult to bake anything. seems to come up to temp for pre heating, but only the bottom coil comes on. If you put it on broil, then the top coil gets hot. that works fine. tired of burning pizzas and biscuits. can anyone help with a cheap fix? dont have alot of cash.

Top oven will not heat up

Had a similar problem. The overheat sensor had failed to the open position and the oven control would light up and you could set the temp, but it would drop to 100 degrees and then go blank.
