Either upper thread is not passing through thread sensor area or sensor is broken.
Second possible reason is that if design is not optimized the sporadic speed change provides thread breakage error even if the thread is not broken physically. Make sure your software is updated to optimize it automatically (Futura main menu->Help->Live Update).
Thank you so much! This was so frustrating because I took the entire bobbin casing apart, dusted it, blew it with air, etc. and the machine still stopped every 2 stitches to tell me the thread was entangled when it wasn't.
I turned it off, reset the speed to slow then started it up again. I finally finished the embroidery. The next time, I increased the speed to test how fast I could get it to go. It seems to be working with minimal stopping since. Now, I've stopped playing with the stitch speed, especially during the embroidery. Thank you. Your information was so helpful!

Use dental floss to clean the part under the thread sensor.
Use "stocking" to maintain your thread moving slowly through the machine. Both tips worked on my SES 1000, CE-250 and SES2000. Good Luck!
