This printer is fully compatible with Windows 7. So once the printer is connected to the computer just turn it on and windows 7 inbuilt driver agent will download the compatible driver for this printer. In short this printer is Plug & Play qualified.

Wow... that printer is still working after all these years? Hook it and, turn it on, boot the computer and see if Windows XP will recognize it as a "plug and play device", if NOT, you out of luck. Canon does not have any updated drivers for this unit. Good Luck...

The immediate response is that there is no Vista driver available for this printer from Canon.

However, that is not the end. Check the Vista printers and see if the driver is already built into Vista or Vista may supply a generic driver for older models of printers.

For a definite answer, you might want to call the Canon Support Center and get the Canon answer on this.

by looking at the table in this link, supposely this printer works fine as plug n play to your vista...no driver installation is needed....

What OS are you trying to install it on, and how are you getting the files? The printer came out when Windows 95 was brand new, so using the original installation discs (floppies?) on any newer OS is not going to work. Canon has drivers available online for Windows NT, 95, 98 and Me here.

If you have a newer Windows 2000 or Windows XP use the drivers that are built in to the OS. From the Add Printer option, select Canon as the manufacturer, then look for Canon Bubble Jet BJC-4100.

If you have Windows Vista, this printer is not supported in that OS. Nor is this printer supported in any Mac OS.
