Did you try going thru the setup portion of the owners manual? IF you need the manual you can get it online free. I realize sometimes people read the manuals and don't understand the technical jargon. SOURCE: place for connecting transmitter ot reciever..cable plug does not fit anywhere on receiver

If you just using them for stereo, use the "main pre-out" on the receiver. if your using them for surround, they need to go the 5.1 pre-out rear. Hope this helps.

Hi,

With the power off, try to disconnect every component and then power on the receiver. If it still shuts down, then it is an indication of an internal error and the unit needs to be serviced.

I have a HTR-5640 and my sub will switch on but I don't get any base out of it no sound! Even when I do the speaker test. Is this a setting or is there a problem?

Several settings, like Subwoofer YES.

I bought some United Kingdom videos that are legitimate videos, but cannot play them on my yamaha dvd player. The dvd player is a yamaha 5650. Is there a code that can be input to allow for english video...
Those DVD s are specified for a different region. Unfortunately if your DVD player isn't "Region Free" they wont play.

Does the Yamaha have HDMI inputs? Usually you would connect the directv and dvd player via individual HDMI cables to the Yamaha (input)and then the Yamaha (output) to your TV also via HDMI.

My right main channel does not work on my yamaha HTR 5650
Hello

If the amp is out of warrenty period, open it up and follow the path from the mute channel on the circuit board. You should see if the capasitors on that path is done(Blown). You can fix this yourself if you know how, otherwise take it to a repair shop will be a cheap fix.

Otherwize check the ic on that channel. Hope this an help you.
