Toshiba 40XV645U - No picture on HDMI 1 when TV is turned on

I have a Toshiba 40XV645U. Works fine except that when TV is turned off then back on it does not recognize the HMDI 1 input (to which the cable box is attached). "No video signal" comes up. So I have to switch input to HDMI 2 and wait for "no video signal" then switch input back to HDMI 1 and it will work fine...until I turn off the TV again. IT does the same thing no matter which HDMI input it used. It's annoying. How do I get it to immediately recognize the HDMI 1 input when the TV is turned on?

I have the same issue with a Toshiba 46XV648U. I talked to Toshiba customer service and the individual I spoke with was not aware of this problem, but they are sending me a firmware update for the TV that "might" fix this.

I assume that you have set the input source selction as in Page 32 and HDMI 1 is solid and and not grayed out. If so check the Preferences menu and see if there is an option for power on set up.
Also look at page 51 about HDMI feature settings. I assume you turn the cable box on first before turning the TV on.

Toshiba rd-kx50 recorder error 3B - HDMI doesn't recognize tv

WOW another person that kept the rd-kx50, Welcome brother or sister to the fold..lol.

I had that problem a couple of times, I just remove the hdmi cable while the tv and recorder are off, and then connect it once it's back on.
It's a pain to do this, but you could just use the component cables and not worry about the issue (at a slight cost of picture quality)

Toshiba 43AX60: sound but no picture

try switching to a different video source and play a DVD or a game system. If the issue is still there try unplugging the TV for 5 min. and then plug it back in.If the problem works fine on all other devices except the video source that has the issue try hooking up the same device your having the issue with to a video source you know works if that works then you have a bad video source on the back of the TV, if it does not work it's either the cable going to the TV or the device itself.

Compatibility with Samsung LCD Display

It sounds like the HDMI port on the back of your Marantz is damaged. if you know for sure that the HDMI port works on another tv still you might just use component connection because the visible difference between component and HDMI is not very recognizable.

JVC LT-32DS75SJ issue with HDMI

Try this

1. Turn ON TV
2. Connect PS3 to TV HDMI input
3. select TV HDMI input for PS3
4. turn OFF PS3 if it is ON
5. Press and hold the [I/O]Power button until the PS3 until you get the "HDMI Detected" message.

Also, this TV has a circuit that deactivates the HDMI if the rear cover is removed. It is possible the HDMI may have been turned OFF. This is reset in the service menu of the TV.

Toshiba hdmi ports not working

I talked to Toshiba about his problem, this morning. They said they have never hear of such an issue. I told them the TV was less than 1 week old, and would hope Toshiba would do something in response to my alternative action of returning both my Toshiba HD DVD and 52LX177 for a new brand. They said all they can do is have me go to a service center for them to repair it. 1 week old TV and DVD, $4000, for repair; I don't think so. I talked to two different people a Toshiba regarding this, with the same answer. Very poor customer support, especially for a higher end product like this. I think I have no choice but to change brands.
