Kenmore 80 Series Gas Dryer wont turn back on after blowing fuse

Kenmore 80 Series Gas Dryer
I just blew a fuse in my house and the washer and dryer went out. I fixed the fuse box. The washer turned back on, but the dryer won't turn back on, not even the light inside the dryer comes on when you open the door. Does it have a reset button? What could be wrong?

Good day,
First, reverse the washer and dryer plugs in the outlet.
If that works, then the outlet needs changed.
If not,
The light switch is hot wired to the light circuit. Which means, if the machine is plugged in, the light will work.
Two possibilities.
1.The cord is bad, and needs replaced.
2. The light switch, which also runs the circuit to the motor is bad.
To access the switch, remove the lint filter, remove the 2 screws under it, then with a screw driver, pry up the top lid, one side at a time.
Lift the lid, but do not go above vertical. You will see the switch, and how to remove it.
You will need a VOM meter to test these items.
As well, make sure the machine is unplugged.

The following clip, at the beginning will get you started if you have to access the switch.

110.64872400 kenmore dryer 80 series. dryer makes humming noise when start button is pushed, can turn drum manually. please help

The humming noise is most likely coming from the timer motor and not from the drive motor. This characterizes a problem with a blown thermal fuse which is wired in series with the drive motor and located on the blower housing. Power to the motor is cut when the thermal fuse blows open and consequently the drive motor cannot run. No dryer function works when the drive motor cannot run.

Unplug the dryer or disconnect power then pry the lower access panel off with a flat-head screwdriver as shown.

Remove the screw from the lint duct bracket and remove the bracket. Remove the two hex-head screws from the lint duct and remove the duct to access the thermal fuse and the cycling thermostat.

Click on the links below for the detailed troubleshooting of this problem and the parts diagram. The cycling thermostat(part number
3387134) must also be replaced once the thermal fuse(part number 3392519) is found open.

Kenmore 80 series dryer, no heat. blower works

Check to see if the glow bar is coming on first. If it isn't, it is probably the thermal fuse/ cutoff. It is a small white plastic piece on near the motor housing.

If it is coming on but not lighting the flame, then you probably need gas coils. They are the two cylinder shape black and white objects attached to the gas valve.

Kenmore 70 Series Dryer not heating and not cutting off

I had an identical problem to yours this weekend with my Kenmore dryer. There were 2 problems.

1. Timer was broken. Does not advance to "OFF" position on timed dry, however it still works for auto-dry.

2. Thermal fuse was blown. Upon replacing, dryer heated up normally.

I believe when the timer broke, the dryer had kept running and blew the thermal fuse. On Sears' website, thermal fuse is $5.30, timer is roughly $80.

I have electric series 80 kenmore, all of a sudden it wont turn on, still getting power because light is on when door is closed. turns off when door opened. hit button and nothing happens at all.

If a dryer is not working at all that's not good! But it doesn't mean you need to go appliance shopping just yet. It may be something very simple like a broken door latch, a bad door switch or even a broken door switch actuator, in a kenmore dryer there is a tab thats sticks out of a hole in the wall that allows the dryer to run only if the door is shut, other models may have button that protrudes out of the dryer and when the door is shut, this allows the dryer to run. These switches go out from time to time, also if a dryer is full of lint build-up over time this will cause the dryer high limit or fuse to blow. The fuse is located near where the blower is in most cases. When the air in the dryer gets way too hot the fuse/hi-limit will blow and the house wont burn down.
