Every winter when it is pretty cold outside my basement toilet will flush, but not refill. Through the night, spontaneously, it will finish refilling. I have my suspicions, but I'm looking for the easiest solution to the problem. Thanking you in advance.

Is the float mechanism moving freely once it gets colder water inside? If not, replace the valve kit inside the tank...colder water should not make a difference.

New Sloan flushometer causing water hammer

  1. Shut off water supply to the house at the main.
  2. Open all the cold water faucets, start with the highest faucet (2nd or 3rd floor) and work to your lowest faucet (first or basement floor).
  3. Flush all the toilets in the home.
  4. Let water drain from open faucets.

AVibrating sound for 10 seconds- like a moan- after toilet is flushed and filled. What is going on? It doesn't happen every time.

Depends upon several things, the most difficult would be too much air in the pipes. Before having a "anti-hammer" installed; I would try this... go to the supply for the cold water pipe (for that room, dependent upon the age and style of your home) maybe the basement??? See if there is a place, other than the toilet, to turn off the water supply (turn the water off), open the cold water valves of your sink and tub and flush the toilet, and drain about 1 quart of water from that line. Leave the tub and sink cold water valves open and slowly open the valve you turned off, allow water to flow from the faucets and flush the toilet a few times. What you are trying to do is allow the air to escape. Turn off the faucets and flush the toilet again, open the partially closed valve all the way. This should get rid of trapped air, and it is the cheapest first step. This is one example of an "Anti-hammer" device.

Note: On some houses it may be difficult to find a place to drain the cold water line, without turning off the entire home.

Our toilet systern is constantly running it won't shut down

here are a few things you can check for
  1. Check refill tube first: If refill tube is inserted too far into the overflow pipe, pull it out and reattach to outside of overflow pipe. This should keep the tube from entering the overflow pipe and often stop an internal leak from the tank to bowl and prevent "ghost flushing".
  2. Inspect flapper for visible damage/debris: Wipe flapper and surface area of flush valve clean. Replace flapper if this does not resolve toilet running.
  3. Replace entire flush valve if steps a and b do not resolve issue.

We have installed an american standard duel flush toilet that uses a fluidmaster valve. Problem! The refill tube is mounted on a float attached to the overflow pipe. When the toilet is flushed the nozzle...

The overflow pipe should be attached to a small clip that holds it in position over the over flow pipe. If it is loose or attached to the outside it will do what yours is doing.

Openiong a pool toilet

Probably, all you did was to turn-off the tap inside the basement, so that no water would be inside the pipe during the winter, and so there would be chance of water freezing inside the pipes, causing expansion, and creating a leak in the pipe. Turn the water on inside the basement. The toilet-tank should start to refill, immediately. If it does not, there may be another tap right beside the toiler. Turn that tap, too.

Tank will not refill after you flush

okay depending on the type of toilet ball **** (i know its a funny word, but it's really what its called.) you have one the most standard type is the long wire with the big ball on the end. you need to adjust this ball **** so it goes lower test it out, flush your toilett and wait till the water drains then when its supposed to come back up push down on the ball **** and youll see the water will start to fill, so then adjust the little screw on the fill valve (the other side of the floater where its attached)

you may need to shut off your water supply and drain your tank depending on how skilled you are,

pretty simple work, if you have questions feel free to ask.
