I have a GE side by side refrigerator and it has stopped making ice. I have reset the ice drawer but it still isn't working. What do you suggest? The model # is GCL22qgta sv

Your model came with an electronic ice maker. If trays are empty tour on and fill with tap water. After it freezes if it cycles and dumps but does not refill with water the the problem will be the side of the water control valve on rear of the refrigerator that controls the water to ice maker. If the water freezes and does nothing then you may need to shop around for a new ice maker. Part number is WR30X10093 for the Ice Maker and WR57X10032 for the Water Control Valve. The drawers will pull out the front, then you can unclip the drawer fronts, they are just held together by plastic tabs. GE Refrigerator Drawer WR32X10338

Inside the fridge behind bottom drawers there is a heat element that has stopped working.You will see it is covered with ice.you will need to replace it and totally defrost both and restart.

Makes too much ice and it overflows

You cannot - this is a design issue that really cannot be fixed since the arm that senses the ice level cannot get caught up in the bucket or it would break every time you opened the freezer. Any fridge brand of this type has the same issue.

How can I stop automatic ice maker from continually making ice?

There should be a metal wire that hangs over the drawer. When the drawer is full, the wire flips up and shuts off the ice maker. You have to manually lower the wire back down to restart the ice maker. It sounds like yours is hung up, missing or broken. Have you checked this?

there is a kit you can git to put on the arm that tells how much ice it has ..or you can carefully bend the arm down too tell it it is full hope this helped
