Assuming the cables are good etc. this set has 3 hidden menus, one is the OPTION menu which will reset almost all settings back to default.
I have seen it cure no sound, no video, all sorts of odd things--it will not affect convergence which is stored in another area but a missing or non working input it may cure.
I have the 4 number code for doing this but you have to have a working original Mitsubishi remote--universal will not work.
Let me know if you want to try it and I will provide the code and general instructions for doing it.
just visit www.mitsubishi-tv.com and look for the support site on the top page and click for product documents, the exact model starts with
WD, WS, or WT sometimes VS and its located at the back
What you're describing is a repair issue. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do through troubleshooting to correct that problem. There is an internal part that has to be replaced. If you're under warranty or have an extended service plan, the repair will cost you nothing.

You don't.
It should automatically switch to 1080 when and only when there is a HD signal present. Otherwise it will be in 480 and you will need to use the format button on the remote to change the picture size. If it does not switch to 1080 and you know for sure you have a true HD signal present, there is a problem with the unit.
Hope this helps,

Not exactly familiar with this model but sounds like the projector lamp is burned out. Hopefully it's a replaceable type. Try calling these people - http://www.purelandsupply.com
Turned out to be a problem with my dish receiver. Found out by attaching a separate DVD unit to the TV, and it didn't flash. I then realized everything ran through the dish receiver. Called them, reset ( by unplugging for 90 seconds) and all was well.
