I bought a Kitchenaid KSB5K3 at a yard sale. It worked until my husband replaced the worn out rubber coupling that spins the blade. Now it wont turn on. I hate to send it to the landfill if someone can use it or parts of it, like the magnet you're looking for.
Your on right track ya dont trow it away go drill out magnet stick your replacement in ther wont hurt to try match it up to same thickness as orginal close to it ok should work fine after u get that new magnet in i looked for that part online also they dont sell it so ya u will have to custum rig it ok wortha shot

Ohhh. that may be true, what the technician said is true, that you may need to buy a whole new motor.
but to be practical, you can ask some repair shops iof they have that specific part because it may be a hassle to buy a new replacement right? and buy a 2nd hand replacement for that instead.
hope this helps....
BTW, for safety precautions, always choose the best possible way to fix the problem, thing both ways.
if you buy a brand new replacement it would be safer than to look for that specific item for your blender....the other wieght also based on practicality, why waste big bucks for a small part that you can patiently wait for anyway, you might find it from any repair shops right?
HERE.....we always try to do the SAFEST way for the consumers...resolve the problem as much as we can do.
thats nice to hear that you found a magnet of the same size, however with the drilling part, thats not a problem since you only have to drill it, you can bring that to a shop somewhere and have it custom drilled, preferably a diamond tip drill will do the job nicely. there are no real diamond tipped drills there though so just ask for an alternative that nearly does the job.
hope you can fix that.

What I can do for you is you should refer to your manufacturer/ store owner of your device for safer procedures.ok?

I have possibly found a suitable magnet on a website for magnets in size so please answer all of my inquiry. The broken magnet is approximately .75 inches in diameter and .125 inches in thickness and the website has one but i would have to drill it and attach it. so please tell me if you know how the factory accomplishes this and maybe where they get their magnets manufactured for this speed sensor
all i need is a circular magnet and the proper attaching system ie: glue. putting a few gram magnet back on a shaft is not a hard or unsafe procdedure. this is a stupid answer to my problem and is not worth the 10 dollars i paid to get some intelligent answer to my problem. i did't even see any specifications on the size and gauss of the needed replacement item that i might already have a lead on if someone would answer that part of the post.
model ksb3wh4 serial Wp3803548 3 speed kitchen aid blender ithink gorrila glue should give enough hold and when it expands will lock the magnet to th larger diameter section of the shaft just above it
the speed plate is for the mixer not the blender but i really appreciate the help and yes i think a clear 2 part epoxy will be a better choice for the metal to magnet metal bond.I couldn't get the first service manuel site from mending shed to download. my computer said it was loaded (32 pages) but all were blank i have my owners manueal which is totally worthless for this problem. i called kitchen aid and they sent me to my local authorized repair which couldn't help me.
yes upgrading my adobe from 6.1 to 8.1 did the trick but that is the manual for the mixer motor not the blender. finding the blender motor diagram is still a problem
