Mitsubishi HS-U680 VCR

Every thing seems to work on the VCR except there is no picture or sound.

Here are the possibilities:
1. really dirty heads - both video and audio
2. TV is not selecting the right input for the VCR.
3. difficult (but rare) failure in the VCR output circuitry.

I have a HS-U50 VCR that did not feed the tape properly. I opened it up and noticed the belt on the bottom was off the two wheels. It looked like it would be easy to put the belt back as it should be but...
The belt came off for a reason. If you succeed in getting it back on, The probability is high that it will just come off again. A new belt is probably needed. There should be something that can be adjusted to permit belt replacement.

More likley it's not the little white thingy but the belt that drives it. Take the bottom off and get that broken belt out and runn down to the VCR / Tv repair shop and see if they have a new belt
