  1. Check the IPL for your saw to see if any special tools are needed.
  2. There are metal piston stops available, when square (almost never) with the piston top these work well, if not square they have been known to punch through the piston. I suggest a length of starter cord or nylon rope be used instead of the piston stop (retain 6" ± so you can remove it). Make sure the piston is near the top of the cylinder before feeding the cord or it can fall through the exhaust port and damage the piston as it rises.
  3. Everyone I have ever removed had a left handed thread (tighten it to loosen it).
Let us know how it worked for you.

Replace chain on chain saw

Mary, you will have to loosen the chain tensioner all the way before you are able to get the chain back on. Also, with it all the way loosened start by getting the chain started over the drive end before you try putting it over the bar nose end. On some models you may have to as a last resort, remove the cover holding the bar on to get it on the drive sproket. Hope this helps.

Husqvarna 345e

I have a model 435 Husky that had the same hard-to-start problem--warranty service replaced the carburetor and it seems to work ok now. The chain that continues to turn can be fixed by turning the idle-speed screw (not the H or L jet screws) CCW a small amount until it can be accelerated then dropped back to idle to quit driving the chain. Hope this helps!

Chain fell off chain saw remington 10" pole saw, need directions to put back on.

Look from the side of the saw the motor/engine to left and the bar nose to the right. The thinnest part of the chain (sharpened edge) on the top of the bar is to the right.

Craftsman 16 inch cain saw sprocket wont turn

Sounds like the sprocket could be stripped. If so, then you would need to replace the sproket. I suggest you contact Master Parts at 800-466-1446 or online at www.masterparts.net. They may be able to help you.
