It looks like your power cord and foot pedal are incorporated into one unit, and you'll have to replace the foot pedal to get it. Go to the singer website
Go to the home page
Go to customer service--click on it--it will show a small menu--click on instruction manual
In the box put the model number (example 3116 ) & click search
Are you making sure that the needle is in the highest position when you start to sew, and hold your threads until 4 or 5 stitches forward. Replace your needle and make sure you have it inserted flat side faces away from you and pushed up all of the way.
