My Optical Drive will not boot from Bootable Disks

My Optical Drive [HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N ATA Device] will not boot from DVD/CD, but plays all the DVD/CD in Windows. Do I need a latest firmware update?

    Hi,

I am trying to boot from Windows 7, which I created from an .ISO file, I'm sure the DVD is bootable, but when I try to boot from Win7 DVD, I get message "Operating System not found". I have already updated firmware and BIOS for my computer, that did not make any difference.

Updating the firmware and BIOS will not make a difference because the error message reffers to the contents of the CD itself. Make sure that the CD is bootable by testing it in other CD drives. The problem might be your CD Drive itself.

Put the "System Restore" disk into the drive,
and restart your computer.
Choose to "change boot order" so that the first boot-device is your CD/DVD unit.
Your computer *WILL* boot from the disk in the drive,
allowing you to reinstall Windows.
