Hitachi 43uwx10b. How do i test resistors for convergence? i replaced i/c chips with upgraded stk394-160 and all resistors i was told rk42=3.3ohm/ rk46=1.8ohm/ rk50=2.7ohm/ rk54=1.5ohm/ rk58=3.9ohm/ and rk62=2.2ohm but tv is still way out of convergence? Are all these resistors 1 Watt? Are these the correct values? are there more resistors i need to replace? Or can i simply try to adjust convergence manually? Original remote is CLU-5713TSI. Can you guide me through manual convergence?

No i got that post. But when i'm in the convergence adjust part all lines will switch lines but the lines won't actually move to adjust. i tried pushing select on a line then use numbers to adjust but it doesn't it just moves the line to the next spot? tryed using the select knob to move the lines into adjustment but it does nothing. Does this mean i still have a convergence issue? how do i test resistors?

  • Anonymous Dec 17, 2009

I tried that nothing would move?

  • Anonymous Dec 17, 2009

I appreciate your help i understand how its suppose to work but it's still not working. None of the lines will adjust. Any other suggestions? I'm thinking i still have a bad resistor or something. How can i test the resistors and ic chips?

  • Anonymous Dec 17, 2009

I'll have to buy a voltohm meter. the select doesn't do anything, i don't get any little arrows:( Just the grid and i can move the curser location but i can't move the lines. Select button does nothing.

  • Anonymous Dec 17, 2009

Ya tried it. it does nothing. Now when i try to use magic focus it doesn't scroll though like it used to just has a convergence screen with 9 plus signs but i can't adjust them either. i can scroll from one to the next but can't adjust.

  • Anonymous Dec 17, 2009

My select button is a toggle button. there are no buttons beside it exept volume up and down and channel up and down. my select button is a toggle that moves up down left right in a complete circle and pushes down to select. i've tried everything i can think of to no avail which leads me to think there's still something wrong on the circuit board.

  • Anonymous Dec 17, 2009

2,5,4,6 actually moves from square to square. when i'm on one i want to adjust i try pushing select then a direction on the toggle but it doesn't move. then i tried pushing select and using the 2,5,4,6 but it just moves to the next square. Doesn't adjust.

Double image, red is 2 inches off main image. convergance ic amp?

Yes, your Convergence ICs have failed. Replace the STK chips, check fuses and the resistors next to the STK chips. Replace as necessary and re-align via the service menu.

My hitachi model 43uwx10b has magic focas problem's red, green, blue and yellow are moon shaped across the screen

The two STK CONVERGENCE CHIPS AND ANY BAD RESISTORS AROUND THEM WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED.

Typical cost for all the parts on EBAY or Suburban Electronics would be under $25.

Manual Convergence adjustment on Hitachi 43UWX10B

I would guess you missed a open resistor--there are only about 12 of them--how did you check them?

This set (43uwx10b) has a tiny blue micro switch on the front of the chassis---if you engage it from the front the set will go into the DECAM or convergence mode--let me know the CLU number on your original remote and I will scan and paste instructions---98% of the time if the set is wacked out and will not adjust one of the resistors is gone---ONE OF THE CHIPS GETS THEM.

As stated in your response to another person (Hitachi 43UWX10B)

Your post didn't get attached to the message in which you read the 'fix' for your set so the person who helped, will likely never see it.
You might try re-entering your brand/model info and sort through the results to find the original message.

Hitachi 43UWX10B 43" Power Light flashes Continuously

I doubt if its the fuse. We just helped a customer with a very similiar problem. Its more likely that the convergence IC have failed and shorted out. When this happens one of the symproms is that the TV will shut down and chirp. Goto www.TvRepairKits.com and click the contact us button. They can provide you with more instructions on how to test if this is the problem.

Need service manuel free download site or codes for circuit board to reset to manufacture settings if possible on convergence problem

You can get a free manual if you buy a kit from www.TvRepairKits.com . They will typicaly email one to you if you just ask.

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

0667c5f.pngSOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

43UWX10B problem with green

if you have a 2 IC convergence chassis they dont control the green , However if you have the 3 IC chassis the green is controlleed by the third IC these are usually STK4275 or simallar single amp ICs. Which type chassis does your hitachi have? Its possibly related to the digital convergence board if all resistor near the ICs are good. Do you have the service manual? I can post a link where you can get the full service manual if you need one
