You can go to Sony's Support site to make sure you have to download the most recent driver for the card reader. However, sometimes new drivers aren't being created for Windows 7 for older hardware. One the support site select your OS and see what comes up. There are also sometimes drivers released for 32bit, but not 64 where workarounds need to be implemented in order to get them to work, like installing a 32bit driver in compatibility mode.
I had the same problem with my VAIO E series motion eye webcam . I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers from device manager, but didnt do any good.Sometimes the device didnt even show up. So finally I uninstalled the driver and installed the win xp driver from the sony vaio support page even though I had Win 7. Now under Imaging devices in Device manager it shows 'Sony Visual Communication camera' but it works perfectly fine.
Dont uninstall the webcam companion just yet.Might be hard to get it back.
Try doing this and see if it works with webcam companion. or else you can try other free webcam softwares like ManyCam.
I need to know what operating system you're using (like windows vista). However, it seems like the control has moved to the LG screen, and not laptop. You can set several options when connecting a monitor to a laptop - both screens are available, one screen is off and the other screen is off.
Please post your operating system so that I guide you how to change these settings.
Windows 7 ultimate has the capability to search and install drivers on it's own. Please attempt to connect your hardware while connected to internet and allow windows too search for the driver your problem will be fixed.
Other hand go to the link : http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/select-system.pl?PRODTYPE=1,24,72&DIRECTOR=DRIVER and select the appropriate driver for your laptop model.
