I need software to download songs from computer to MP3 player in Vista. I know that Musicmatch jukebox does not work on Vista. It worked on my old computer with XP. Is there some other software I can download that will allow me to transfer music from my computer to my RCA Lyra RD1076A MP3 player?
I found the answer to my question at another website. Windows Vista Home edition has Windows Media Player on it. Using Windows Media Player, I can download my music from my computer to my RCA Lyra RD1076A MP3 player. In Windows Media Player. I use the "Sync" button to do this.

Hi Richard
To answer your question of what you need to download and make the songs play:
This player is meant to play mp3 and Windows Media files To do so, you need the use of a Windows computer with USB port , connection cable (included) and a music management software (MusicMatch Jukebox."
Go to the following webpage and download a user manual for your player...it will give you all the information you need.
Note: the 1022 is the same as the RD1076 http://data.manualslib.com/pdf/14/1393/139210-rca/rd1022.pdf?e5480748d51c8c05ea554d37fbbde9b6

Hello,
There's a manual for the M1001GBUS player on this internet page: http://audiovox2.info/docs/common/M1001GBUS/M1001GBUS_OM.pdf
How to delete songs on the player itself, see page 11 [ page 25 of the pdf file]. When connecting with the provide USB cable:
You should be able to delete songs exploring the player as a removable disk.
Having Windows Media Player version 10 or higher, when the player shows up connected in that software, you should also be able to delete music.
I would not advise the MusicMatch Jukebox software: no support for this software anymore.
When RCA first came out with the Lyra series the only way to get music onto the device was by using musicmatch jukebox that would convert your mp3 file to mpy before downloading it to the device. But now RCA has come out with a new firm ware update for these mp3 players that improved the players playback quality plus enabled it to use .WMA files. so first go to RCA support http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/select.aspx?u=downloads and find your player and download the firmware upgrade and install to your player its very easy and instructions are at the same site. You can now convert your music to .wma or use the free Real player that will convert mp3 to wma at the kbps that you request before loading it on. If your music is all ready in wmaformat you can use windows media player to send the files to your player. One last thing the .wma files that you put on your Lyra player need to be at least 128kbps or higher enhanced playback quality of wma files (160 kbps to 256 kbps).

If you have Windows XP you need to download Musicmatch Jukebox in order to transfer music. Google it. You will probably have to pay for it. However Musicmatch Jukebox does not work with Windows Vista. If you have Vista, you can use Windows Media Player to transfer music to your Lyra. The Media Player automatically comes with Windows Vista OS. Of course, you need to connect your Lyra to your computer using the proper USB cable, so your computer must have a USB port.
What kind of system you are using? if its windows XP you shouldnt need a cd XP will recongise it. If its windows 98 you can download the drivers and firm at the rca site (link down a few lines) When RCA first came out with the Lyra series the only way to get music onto the device was by using musicmatch jukebox that would convert your mp3 file to mpy before downloading it to the device. I hope you have Windows XP. Download Musicmatch Jukebox (google it). Open up Musicmatch Jukebox and on the left hand side is a link to download songs to the MP3 player. Click on the link and follow the directions. Musicmatch Jukebox does not work on Windows Vista (yet).
Your problem is MusicMatch. In the RCA manual, which is found on the CD or online (nothing is printed), it refers you to the MusicMatch software to learn how to create M3U playlists. Someone at RCA didn't talk to MusicMatch before making this claim. The MusicMatch software makes a mess of the files and never saves a playlist properly. You can devise a process using WinAmp which would probably work with Musicmatch, but I prefer WinAmp. Here's the process:
Rip your CDs, download from the internet, and transfer the files to the RD2850 while the Lyra is connected as a hard drive. The files are
stored in the /MUSIC directory. I suggest you organize your albums like this /MUSIC//
If the artists you listen to have multiple albums, a structured approach is useful. The Lyra can sort the files by Artist and Album automatically if the tags are available, meaning a structured directory approach is unnecessary, but it makes it easier if you want to take the files off the Lyra in the future.
Once the files are on the Lyra, use WinAmp to open those file FROM THE LYRA.
This is important since the playlist will specify the relative path of the MP3 files and the Lyra expects the playlists in a directory other than where your music files are.
With WinAmp open, press L to open the file selection dialog and navigate to the directory with the album, or music. Select the songs, press Open.
Open the Playlist Editor (ALT+E)
Arrange the songs
Save the songs with the List Opts button found at the bottom right of the screen. Chose Save List. A dialog will open asking you where to save the list.
Save the list in the /lyra_playlists directory from the root of the drive. Now, the Lyra needs to be updated. This is called "Profiling". The included software has a utility to do this from Windows, or you can do this from the Lyra itself. The manual states if you have over 2500 files, it is best to do this from Windows. But, after changing anything on the Lyra, you must "Profile" the device.
You will now see your playlist in the Playlist menu item on the main screen.
