My NEC v260x projector has a steady orange light, a green status light, and a red lamp light. All are steady (not blinking). I have replaced the lamp light housing. No changes. It will not power on at all.

press the help button on remote for 8 to10 second contineos for reset projector

holding down the "OFF" key on the remote control for 30 seconds

Does a lamp error message (6 blinking red status lights) mean the lamp needs to be replaced? or could something else be wrong.

According to NEC technical support, if the status light flashes red six times, this could indicate a defective lamp. If a new lamp is installed and the project still won't turn on, the projector will need service.

I have a NEC VT470 Projector. The power light is steady orange and the status light blinks red 6 times.

steady orange means projector in standby mode
red light 6 times is a lamp error.
either the lamp is old and wont start up or the ballast power pcb is not working.
can you hear the sparking of the high voltage trying to strike the lamp.
if you can then the lamp may be dodgy.
can you borrow one to test it out

Nec projector vt440 wont turn on

Hello. First check the lamp! From your description, it sounds like the projector is telling you that the lamp needs to be replaced. In "eco mode", when the power is green and the status is steady orange, that is the error message. In "high brightness mode" the status will be steady red. Hope I helped you.

Lamp will not come on

try pressing and holding the enter button on the projector for about 30 seconds - this resets it. It worked for me!!

The power supply on that model seem to go bad after a while. the caps aren't properly reted it's power needs. they dry up. if you are good at soldering, replace c1 on the board (big cap) with a cap that has a slightly higher voltage rating. or replace the whole power supply. you might not be able to get one from nec, but you can try www.projectordoctor.com
