It is probably the start device(the coil looking things), as long as you don't hear the compressor humming. A loud hum is a lock compressor and the cost would be far greater than a new unit.

Bucket rattles loudly and compressor buzzes

Sounds like compressor is having trouble starting not much can be done with dehumidifiers because not many people work on them and they are very cheap to replace. Replace dehumidifier its not worth time and money cut you losses. If this helps please rate me and do a testimonial.

It is not dangerous, but it also is not working...the sound is the compressor trying to start and not getting started... so the machine is basically toast... would cost more to fix then it is worth...

I have the same problem. I have had the unit less than a month. Haier's policy is for me to pay $14.99 so they can send me another one. What a huge ripoff.
