RCA 46" Screen replacement with plexiglass

I paid $75 for this TV because it had a cracked screen (lower right corner) and the screen was bright fuzzy orange. Anyways, after I opened the case and cleaned the screen and bulbs, removed spider webs, etc, the picture is amazing!!!! I looked at the post "cracked screen" but I could not find any parts for a replacement screen. Would it be worth it to replace the screen with a custom cut piece of plexiglass?? It really doesn't affect the picture but the TV is in great condition otherwise and it would look "like new" with a crackless screen cover. Thanks for reading!!!

oh okay, the lenticular screen is perfect. It's the outer screen that has a crack in it. I was tempted to remove it but I think I'll try the plexiglass unless you know where to find a cheap replacement.

I have a 42" Toshiba, but since it is about 8 years old, they have discontinued providing parts. The very front plexiglass thin screen broke but everything else is fine. Do you have any suggestions?

You will need a lenticular screen also . st plexiglas wont work. The lenticular screen has ridges and kind of opaque in color the outer screen could be plexiglass if need be, But you definitely need the lenticular screen.

The screens are hard to come by, but if the lenticular screen is okay. The plexiglas should work just fine

46 rca model 46la45rq comes on for just a second then the screen goes black and it only plays sound! what needs to be replaced

Sounds like you have a backlight problem. To verify this, turn on the set and dim the lights in the room. Take a bright flashlight and shine it on the screen. Do you see a faint picture?

Where can i get a plexiglass screen?

I have a P46921 46 in rear projection television. I brought it in and they told me it was the processor board (main control board with programming) that wasn't letting the TV turn on and was quite an expensive repair. I now have the parts back and was wondering if someone could use them. I know that some people were looking for the actual screen found behind the plexiglass or what looks like plexiglass. I have all the parts and was told that it worked beautifully until it decided it wouldn't turn on again. Anyone interested, please drop me an email at [email protected].

Thanks.

Mitsubishi hdtv 1080 ws-a65 screen broke need replacement

there are 2 functionality screens and 1 screen protector (on some)
front screen = lenticular
back screen = fresnel
very front screen = screen protector (you can replace w plexiglass)

the fresnel and lenticular are very specific.. contact your local repair center for a new one. you can cut them from old screens but have to do just right (fresnel is a lens type - pic will be distorted if off center)

maybe find a old junker tv to pull screens from because new ones are about $100 a piece

Broken plexiglass screen

If your TV is anything like mine (which I expect it is, since they’re the same brand), all you have to do is use a T-20 screwdriver bit to remove all the screws from the back of the frame around the plexiglass. Once the screws are out, the frame just pops up and the plexiglass is easily removable.

Broken protective plexiglass ...

it is not tecomended that you remove this especally around children. i say this but i personally have one like that but i have no children. the other reson is the screens are easy damaged and they are 250 to replace. You can get another front plexi these are known as the supersheild. or if you can find the right size plexi glass it might find another option. It can be watched but like i said it will just lead to more problems without plexi
