Check Air Flow

I have cleaned the projector and have reset the menu times. The red lights have stopped blinking. However, after about 2 minutes a message appears saying, "Check Air Flow" I have set the fan speed to high as recommened by another source but still have the problem. Cant keep turning the projector off every two minutes it is slightly disruptive! Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you! I have now found that there is an extra vent that needed cleaning on the top of the projector that I could not see because it is mounted in a bracket which covers this vent and and is ceiling mounted at a great height! Not sure who's idea that was - not mine that's for sure. Thanks for your help.

Just clean the unit first. It might be clogged and not able to breathe. The lamp gets hot and needs the air flow.

If you navigate through the projector menu you will most likely find an option to reset the filter timer. Resetting the timer will cause the indicator light to stop blinking.

My hitachi cpx201 projector says to check the air flow

Hi There Teacher!
the air filter unclips on the left hand side, lens facing out.
after vacumming out the filter see below for filter reset counter procedure
Good Luck!
Turn the projector on and reset the filter time using the FILTER TIME item in the EASY MENU. Before taking care of the air filter, make sure the power switch is off and the power cable is not plugged in, then allow the projector to cool sufficiently. Taking care of the air filter in a high temperature state of the projector could cause an electric shock, a burn or malfunction to the projector. Use only the air filter of the specified type. Do not use the projector without the air filter or the filter cover. It could result in a fire or malfunction to the projector. Clean the air filter periodically. If the air filter becomes clogged by dust or the like, internal temperatures rise and could cause a fire, a burn or malfunction to the projector. WARNING Please replace the air filter when it is damaged or too soiled. When you replace the projection lamp, please replace the air filter . An air filter of specified type will come together with a replacement lamp for this projector . Please reset the filter time only when you have cleaned or replaced the air filter, for a suitable indication about the air filter. The projector may display the message such as ?gCHECK THE AIR FLOW?h or turn off the projector, to prevent the internal heat level rising. NOTE (1) Press the MENU button to display a menu. (2) Point at the FILTER TIME using the ??/?? button, then press the button. A dialog will appear. (3) Press the ?? button to select RESET on the dialog. It performs resetting the filter time.

Pop saying check filter

Hi there...FIRST remove the dust filter and clean it with some compressed air, or you can leave it in place and use a vacuum cleaner hose to suction off the dust. Some projectors have a sensor that gets reset when the filter is removed. A lot don't. Check the onscreen menu for a reset option for the dust filter. This option may be only accessible with the remote control...DON'T reset the lamp hours! The most important thing with LCD projectors or any other projector, for that matter, is to keep the dust filters clean--think of someone putting their hand over your nose and mouth. The projectors emit a *huge* amount of heat and need plenty of air flow to remain cool. Also, the benefit of cool air keeps the delicate LCD panels from aging prematurely!---Rick

Both Temp and Lamp lights blink red

All you should need to do is go to the menu on the projector, and find the Filter Timer. Hit the right arrow to select the filter time, and then hold the rest button on the projector until you are prompted to confirm the reset. Hit menu to confirm and it should now reset the filter timer. Now cut the projector off and back on and the lights should stop blinking. I hope this helps.

Displayed massege to check air flow

With most projectors there is a foam air filter behind a grill that is the opening to the cooling channels. A fan ensures air flow to cool the lamp, etc. This filter prevents dust from gumming up the works (and depending on design) may prevent dust getting into the optics. As the filter gets dirty it gradually cuts off the air and at some point a protective circuit kicks in and turns off the lamp.
If the projector is on you will feel a stream of hot air coming out of the exit vent. Projectors vary in terms of amount of air flow, so its difficult to define what is normal for a specific model. However, you can simply hold a hand in front of the vent and see if there is air flow (It will be hot air so, careful). If there is a "good" stream of air things are fine, but if only a very light flow is felt the filter may be dirty.
If the filter has not been cleaned or replaced recently make sure the projector is turned off and cooled down then take off the inlet cover and remove the filter. Clean or replace per the instructions for the projector (and periodically as defined .. but taking into account the operating conditions). Once cleaned turn on the projector and feel the "normal" air current for future reference.
Heat is one of the major causes of projector failure, so make sure cooling vents (inlet and outlet) are not obstructed and filters are kept clean
