I lost power yesterday and since it came back on, my TV will not turn back on. the green timer light keeps blinking. i have unplugged and reset but no dice.
it is a mitsubishi medallion 1080 that is around 7 years old. 65"

Does the led ever stop blinking? No ..well in that case generally this indicates a standby voltage problem...if all those voltages ok then the cuircit known as digital module is at fault. also make sure the lockout has not been activiated. i really dont think it could but to unlock hold menu button down for 10 seconds. After all that i believe it would be a bad digital module
you probably had a power bump, unplug tv for 1 hour turn back on and hit the reset button, if the green light quits blinking your good to go. If not you might have capacitors gone bad not cool.
SYSTEM RESET If the TV will not respond to either the remote control or the front panel controls and/or will not power Off, press the SYSTEM RESET button with a pointed item like the end point of a paperclip. The TV will turn Off and the TIMER light will flash quickly for about one minute. When the TIMER light stops flashing, you may turn on the TV again. Changes you made the last time the TV was On before you used the SYSTEM RESET button may be lost, however, the changes you made previously are not lost. POWER/TIMER Indicator The green light is a multi-function indicator. This light will flash rapidly for about one minute each time the TV is plugged into the wall electrical outlet, when power is restored after a power failure, or using the SYSTEM RESET button. Do not attempt to turn on the TV again during this period. Wait for the flashing to stop and the light to turn off, before attempting to turn the TV on. Thats a common problem when the caps on the DM need replacement. They will function fine untill power is interupted then the set will not complete the boot sequence when power is reapplied and the led will just continue to blink. Resetting the TV If the buttons on the remote AND the buttons on the TV case do not work (channels do not change and you cannot open or navigate the menu), the TV has stopped responding. Reset the TV as follows:
NOTE: Some TVs have a reset button. If available and accessible, try using the reset buttons before using the steps below. Using the reset buttons can save time. 1.Unplug the TV power cord from the power outlet. 2.Unplug any connected devices (DVD, Set-top boxes, etc...) 3.Press and hold the TV power button for five seconds. 4.Plug the TV power cord back into the power outlet and turn on the TV. 5.Open the on-screen menu to confirm that the TV is responding again. 6.Turn off the TV and reconnect the devices. 7.Turn on the TV.
If ever resetting is no effect then the problem is in the "DM board" The constant blinking green light means that the TV is not booting up. This is a common problem on this set.

My Mitsubishi WS-73713 had the same blinking green timer light problem and would not turn on. I tried the reset button and unplugging power to no avail. I found that by simultaneously holding down the remote control "power" button and "volume" button for about 30 seconds the blinking light would go out and a solid green light would come on. Even though the solid green light came on the unit would still not power up. After doing this several times however the unit did finally power up in a normal mode and appears to be working again. It's worth trying before calling in for an expensive repair. PS - From here on out I'm sticking with SONY or Toshiba sets which have given be great service.
You need to change the seven capacitors on the DM power supply board (inside the metal case on the left where your DTV tuner connects)They are 1000 MFD 16 VOLT capacitors and the tops are probably bulging outward because they are leaky- this is a common problem.When you lost power,the TV had to reboot itself but because of the leaky caps it never will and the green light keeps blinking.As long as you never lost power or unplugged the set the TV would of still worked.Once you change the parts and plug the set in the light will blink normaly for about a minute and when it stops blinking you can then turn on the TV.
