No vacumm pressure. the passages are clear and the motor runs but there is very little suction.

you may have a little wear in the hose,although sometimes it is wise top take it in for an overhaul.If you take it to a good tech they will take it apart,clean the motor and adjust the rubber seals.Simply,a vacuum means no air,the better sealed the vacumm the better suction...hope this helps

Check all of the filters. When there's extra heat, it's usually blocked filters.

If not, dismantle the wand and use long pipe cleaners or a bottle brush to clear any possible jams in the wand or head. Remove the hose from the main unit and if possible, drop ball bearings or marbles down the hose to try and clear any blockage. Remember to recover all of the ball bearings or marbles before you reassemble the hose and wand.

I presume the motor is running, take the front brush roller off and check the fan is still intact. Possibly broken fan.

Have you remove the hose and checked the suction at the intake of the vacuum? If the motor is running there will be suction.
If there's suction here, attach the hose to the vacuum, turn it on, and check the end of the hose for suction. If there is none or very little, there's a clog or bad leak in the hose. The easiest way to check for a clog is to drop a coin in one end, lift that end up allowing the coin to drop through to the other end and out. If it drops through, the hose is clear. If not, the easiest way to clear it is to plug the hose in to the exhaust port of the vacuum, place the other end into a large garbage bag or point it outside, and turn on the vacuum. This will usually clear a blockage.
Leaks that are severe enough to result in no suction will be readily apparent as tears, cracks, or cuts in the hose. A crushed hose will also result in the loss of suction.
If suction is fine at the end of the hose, do a visual check of the wands. It's unusual for them to be blocked, but not impossible.
Check the power nozzle above and behind the brush and where it attaches to the wand. The elbow can catch long objects resulting in a blockage.
If there don't appear to be any problems with the above mentioned items, you need to take the vacuum, with attachments, to a repair shop to have it checked. It may need a new motor, but that would be due to worn out or broken fans, and that is unlikely with Electrolux vacuum motors years older than that.

The belt and brush have nothing to do with the suction. The impeller on the motor creates negative pressure which results in a vacuum. ( or suction ) Many newer vacuums have as many as 4 filters. if any become completely clogged, the performance drops to nil. Start at the debris exit and work backwards. As a bagless, pulling the dirt canister out and removing the main filter is a good start. Most filters can be "tapped" clean and some are washable. after pulling out the filter, look where the passage way enters the filter chamber. Is it clogged? There is usually a secondary filter, which actually is set in a previous stage to the filter you just pulled out. Its main purpose if to catch hair, small nails, wire, and other material that could damage the more visible filter. If this filter is clogged then that will explain the loss of suction. Pull it out and clean it. An exhaust filter is located typically above the motor. Its purpose is to prevent fine particles from being blown about. It should be cleaned as well. With the filters clean and the hoses and passage ways clear, you should be good to go.

check the suction hose where it bends down to the floor unit,, lots of times dirt,hair and stuff collects there when the filter was plugged up. remove the floor plate ( like you were going to change the belt ) and use a wire coat hanger to run up the suction hose and back out and clean out any debris, also check the entire hose for blockage ( top to bottom ). if this is all clear and you still have little suction - then the problem could be the vacume motor itself and you will need to take the unit into the repair shop and have the motor rebuilt or replaced.

I think I know exactly what the problem is with your Dyson. I'd be happy to try and walk you through it, but just want to make sure that you still need help, or if you've already fixed the problem.

If the motor runs, then the problem is usually plugged air passages near the bag/canister or the sweeper head/hose. Remove any hoses/bags/canisters so that you are dealing with only the vacuum producing parts. If it has a sweeper head, remove the bottom plate and clean any visible clogs in the air passages--the same with the area where the debris collects normally. Turn on the motor to see if you are getting air flow through the machine. If nothing, dig deeper into those air passages. Hope this helps!
