Belkin router not giving signal to linksys adapter HELP!!!!!
I have been trying to fix this problem for days without any luck. I recently got an Acer Aspire One. Shortly after I purchased a belkin Wireless G Router (which I set up to my desktop and modem) and linksys Wireless-G USB Network Adapter. I set both up, but on the router there is no wireless light and when I go to look for connections on my laptop with my network adapter, none show up. Any help

Re: Belkin router not giving signal to linksys adapter...
I dont think belkin has a stable driver for win.7 at this time. I have a belkin n router with a belkin adapter and had no luck.
Some people have had some success using a Vista driver.
You could go to www.bioticaindia.com and download a win 7 driver there. They show a 48% success rate.

The wireless adapter is used to connect wireless to the internet, You can use it to make your desktop wireless and laptop.
You can connect to the internet as long as you have a wireless router in your place that will supply the wireless signal.
It sounds like your linksys is your main connection so therefor it will not always let belkin connect because your pc has registerd your linksys to be your connection.
You need to configure the Belkin router with a SSID and WAP or WEP encryption, Then install the Linksys adapter driver in the computer and then configure the Linksys adapter with the Belkin router settings (ie. the SSID and encryption) before the Linksys can communicate eith the Belkin router.
Apparently, your router is working at a frequency too close to your TV's incoming signal. You can try changing the channel (frequency) that your wireless operates on. Click this link for Linksys' troubleshooting wizard, which will show you how to do this. If this doesn't help, you might return your router for a different model (I only use belkin myself).
laptops have a wide range reciever built around the screen and tend to be far better than a normal usb dongle.
The fact that your pc is downstairs will be effected a lot because the signals from the router will be bouncing around in an area around the antenna and above, signals below will be effected by floors, doors and wall partitions.
Your best solution would be to place the router on a phone line downstairs and see if the signal is increased.
