Changing the date on a fossil watch- how do you do it?

  • Anonymous Mar 23, 2013

I have a Fossil watch, CH2586. One thing about this watch, that really irritates me, is that it automatically thinks that every month has 31 days. This means, that by the end of each month, you have to manually regulate it to show the correct date.

Which Fossil do you own?

Analog Date Watch:
Date Setting

  1. Pull the crown out to position 2.
  2. Turn the crown either clockwise or counter-clockwise and set the date for the previous day. The direction that moves the date varies on different watch models.

Analog Automatic:
Time and Date Setting

  1. Pull crown out to position 2 and rotate clockwise to set time.
  2. Pull crown out to position 3; date will advance automatically. To set to required date, continue to rotate crown between positions 2 and 3.
  3. Push crown back to position 1.
Analog Digital:
Time and Calendar Setting

  1. Press and hold pusher A for 2 seconds to enter setting mode. Year will begin flashing.
  2. Press pusher A to select year, month, date, hour, minute, second, and then exit setting mode.
  3. Press pusher B to adjust digit.
  4. Press and hold pusher B to adjust digit automatically.
  5. If no pushers are operated for 30 seconds, setting will be returned to Normal Time Display.

These are the three most common Fossils. If yours isn't here please let me know which model you have and I'll get you the instructions.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Setting the day on my watch

Try this: pull out the winding crown to the first click and change the date. Memorize which way the crown turns to do that. Now turn the crown in opposite direction and the day should adjust.
This solution wrks for most of the makes.
If this doesb't work - submit the make, model and all the writings on watch caseback.

SOURCE: new fossil watch

It is not likely that there is a protective cover over the battery itself, if there is anything on it to prevent use while not owned it is a little pc of plastic holding the stem out. It is sad to say but there is no way to tell how long the watch had the current battery in it before you received it. It is common to get a new watch and have the battery die shortly after or be already dead. Go to a local jewelry store to have replaced, make sure they are able to test the old one FIRST, if the battery is dead, allow them to replace it, if the battery is fine, return the watch to Amazon.

SOURCE: Setting time & date on Philippe Starck Fossile watch ph1080

hold the left, bottom button (marked ....) for a few seconds....then press the top right button (marked with 1 dot) to change between the hour, minute, date etc. use the bottom right button to advance the flashing number, and when finished setting time and date, use the bottom left button to stop the numbers flashing and return the watch to normal. hope this helps, this is also how to change the date for the other question asker (works on 2 other starck/fossil watches i have and i assume the controls are the same).

SOURCE: Fossil JR9589

(I'm dutch, so I'll try in my best englisch)

I don't know if you still have the problem, but what you should do is te following:

* pull out the knob (2 times) and turn anti-clockwise to change the time
* keep doing until it's 24.00 (midnight) and you day change's to the UK (!) day.
* push back the knob (1 time) and change the day to the FRANCE (!) day by turning anti-clockwise
* pull out the knob again and turn anti-clockwise to change the time until 03:00 (midnight)
* you see the then change the day back to the UK day

So, every night at 00:00 the day changes to the FRANCE notation and at 03:00 it then changes to the UK notation, so you can enjoy this setting during the day.

Good Luck.
Also owner of JR9589 watch.
