GE Model 27911 DECT 6.0 Additional Cordless Handset not working

I have a wall mounted GE 27909 DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone that works fine. I purchased a remote handset (27911) that needs to be registered to the base unit (27909). Per the instructions, I plugged in the battery to the handset and plugged in the AC adaptor to an outlet and let it charge for over the 14 hour minimum required. The light on the charging cradle shows a charge is being generated. The problem is there is no display on the handset indicating "Not Registered" as the instructions indicate. I have disconnected and reconnected the handset with the same results, no display no matter what buttons I press (even next to the base station #27909). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I was able to register only one of the three additional cordless hansets. Why won't the other 2 register. It says the base takes up to 4 additions.

I purchased 4 additional handsets and none of them register. Not sure what is happening. Has anyone solved this yet?

    Thanks

I just purchased a 27911 handset and tried several different ways to get it registered to the base...nothing has worked. First I followed the manual directions (multiple times). Then I tried unplugging the base and tried again. Then I unplugged the base with the new handset in the cradle, still nothing.

Purchased the GE Model 27909 wall mounted base and 2 additional handsets ( 27911). The base works fine, but cannot "register" the additional handsets. Followed the directions and tried several times, but no luck.

I tried to take the back of the handset off to check the battery, but cannot get it off. How do I get it off without damaging it?

    Would appreciate any help.

I bought the base and two handsets.  The base and one handset set up according to directions with no problems.   Both handsets were set up the same way.  I can't register the second one.

I had the same problem. What worked for me, after several unsuccessful registration attempts, was to disconnect the phone handset battery for about 1 min and then reconnect the battery. Run the handset registration procedure again. It registered for me on the first attempt after the battery reinstall. Good luck.

I had the same problem with purchase of a remote handset (27911) for 27909 phone. I tried suggestions seen on line in this order:
1. set up handset 2. unplug nearby microwave 3. unplug charger to be sure it was not on same circuit as base 4. move handset very close 5. unplug wireless router
None of the above worked after numerous attempts.
When I took battery out and then replaced it in charger after a minute, there was immediate success.
Removing the back from the handset involves pushing in the button at the bottom surface and while keeping the button pressed push the back in the opposite direction from the button. It is easier to do this by holding the unit so the button is up.

To register a handset to the base, apparently you must PLACE THE HANDSET WITHIN INCHES OF THE BASE (like resting on top). I experienced many failed attempts with the handset only about 18 inches away.
Did anybody think of putting this into the manual?????

It says not registered when you try to use it... otherwise it just say Station. Register it.

I had the same problem. Rebooting the handset fixed it: Remove the battery and then reinsert it.

If your ge model 27911 handset does not register with base 27909, be sure that the 27911 charger is plugged into an electrical outlet on a different circuit than the base unit. as soon AS I DID THAT, 27911 IMMEDIATELY REGISTERED WITH THE BASE. JVB CALIF.

I just bought a base with cordless and 3 additional handsets - charged the batteries, registered all the handsets and the only thing that has a dial tone is the speakerphone on the base. The cordless handset sitting on the base displays "searching.............out of range". Called the manufacturer....was told I could send the phones to them to have it looked into....I am setting up a home office and I need phones, not BS! ssheeshhh........was then told that the phones must have a defect. So much for customer service...obviously sent out for sale with known problems. Shoddy workmanship AND non existent customer service. Sending them back to Office Depot....going to stick with 5.8 because I do not know if this is a common problem with dect 6.0 or just GE models.

I have a GE Cordless phone model #27909 dect. 6.0 i can hear people talking to me, but they can not hear me....what is the problem?

that is probably your mouthpiece, it is located on the lower end of your handset and you have to open unit first to have it replaced. you could check that it has contact and nothing is blocking it before replacement.

How can I register my GE 27911 handset?

I also had this problem and then I found a solution from another site.
Just open the handset and remove the battery for about 1 minute.
Reinstall the battery and go through the register procedure again - it will register almost immediately. just keep the handset near the base.

GE MODEL 28112 DECT 6.0 CORDLESS PHONE

I contacted GE today and they told me how to get the caller ID to work on the additional handsets. You must follow these steps in the exact order given.

#1 - unplug the base phone
#2 - unplug the telephone line from the base phone
#3 - remove the battery packs from the phones
#4 - wait 10 minutes.

reverse the order when assembling. Put battery packs in phones, put the telephone line back in the base phone and lastly plug all phones back in. It takes about another 10 minutes after that before all phones start recognizing caller ID but it now works fine.
