The printer apear to be dead!

Two days before was printing super! Today when I try to print nothing apear. The power led and the paper feed tractor led blink together 1 time and nothing move up. When I open the cover nothing is moving also. I try to disconect power and to reconnect again. I try to reset and printing test page holding power buton and pushing four times the resume butin but nothing move. Seems to be dead. With te power boton seem to turn on and off normally. What I can do? Any idea? Thanks in advance

Buttons and lights on the printer Two buttons and three lights are located on the front of an HP Deskjet printer.

The lights tell when the printer is working or when it needs attention.
The buttons help control the printer.

Buttons and lights Purpose

POWER button and light Push the POWER button to turn the printer off and on. When lit, the light shows that the printer is turned on.

Allow enough time to print. When a document hThe printer apear to be dead! - c00123902.jpg or graphics or uses complex color such as a color photo, it takes longer to begin printing.

The PRINT CARTRIDGE (bottom) light is blinking. Possible causes:

The front cover is open. Make sure the front cover is completely closed.
The print cartridge is missing. Make sure the print cartridge has been installed correctly.
The print cartridge is broken or incompatible. Lift the front cover, and wait for the print-cartridge cradle to slide out. Check the part numbers on the print cartridge:

Black: 51645A

Color: C1823D,

If the print cartridges are compatible and correctly installed, they may be defective. Try replacing the print cartridges.

If none of the above suggestions fix the problem, and, if the error message still occurs, it may be a hardware failure. Call the HP Customer Support Center.

i know you stated you put the paper in correctlyin the printer but if the thermal reactive side of the paper is not facing the print head the thermal paper won't print on the wrong side of the paper. it will load into the printer and seem ok but the heat on the wrong side of the paper will not react and show any writing. Can you try turning the paper over in the printer feed holder so the other side of the paper faces the print head and give it another test .

Paper jam error

This error apear usaly on this machine , when the cloutch sistem of paper feed roller are obsolete , to fix this issue you must clean the sponge out the clutch or replace-it becouse this is already sticky

The printer is not meant to use multi-copy carbon invoices. The cause of your problem is the double-feed prevention pad below the paper pickup roller. When the first form is fed, the double feed prevention pad will stop multiple paper feeds. With multi-page carbons, the paper feed roller is trying to feed the form, and is pulling the top page of the form into the feed rollers while the double-feed prevention pad is stopping the bottom form from feeding and the top and bottom pages are sliding because of the carbon paper between the sheets. The only solution that I know of is to buy a printer with a tractor feed and pre-printed fan-fold forms with tractor feed strips on the sides of the forms.

Our printer is flashing Tractor1 tear. We are not able to print nor can we get this to quit flashing. I have tried turning it off and back on still having the same issue. Help?

The "Tractor 1 Tear" message is not a error as such, this is an information message showing the printer is set to the front tractor feed (tractor 1) if you press the button directly under "Tear" the printer should move the paper to the tear possition.

If the pritner is not printing I would recomend checking the following;

Ensure the printer is set to "ONLINE" press the button you should see ONLINE TRACTOR 1 TEAR on the display
Ensure the printer is loaded with paper, press the button under "Tear" the printer should move the paper forward if it is loaded into Tractor 1.
If you are not using Tractor 1, ensure you select the paper path you are using within the menu and move the paper selection lever.
Observer the LCD display for any errors that may be seen when print jobs are sent.
Try printing a menu print on the printer this will identify if the printer will print, the menu can be printed in the following way.
-Power the printer ON holding down the button, keep the setup button held down whilst the printer initializes.
-When the printer has finished initializing ensure the printer is OFFLINE
-Press and release the button to enter the MENU
-Press the button under "MENU" on the LCD display
-Press the button under "PRINT" on the LCD display

The printer should print a menu settings page, if this prints OK the most likely causes for the problem are;

The computer system is not sending jobs to the printer (check the correct printer is selected on the computer system)
Connectivity problem (check cabling, IP Addresses etc)
The wrong printer driver is being used

I try to print and the printer just prints the first of several pages and the online/error red led comes on.

Try to pull the paper tray out and clean the feed roller inside with alcohol or water.Usually,paper dust on the feed roller causing it to slip during paper feed and printer jams.

The red light is on and I know it was flashing so I knew I had to change the cartridge. I delayed that day and when I wanted to print something today it indicated that there was no communication between...

Delete the printer icon. Power down your computer. Disconnect your printer cable. Power the computer on. After you log into the system, reconnect your printer cable. If the printer is found, install the driver. If not found, your printer cable may be faulty or problem with printer if you cannot print a test page.

Hi. The reasons listed in the manual that cause the LED to flash normally are:

Front cover is open
Close the front cover of the printer.
Back cover is open
Close the back cover of the printer.
Paper jam
Clear the paper jam. See Paper jams and how to clear them on page 6-5.
If the printer does not start printing, press the Go button.
No paper fed manual feed slot
Put the paper in the manual feed slot. See Printing on plain paper, bond paper
or transparencies from the manual feed slot on page 1-10 or Printing on thick
paper, labels and envelopes from the manual feed slot on page 1-13.
Memory full
The printer memory is full and the printer cannot print full pages of a
document. See Solving print problems on page 6-15.
Print overrun
A print overrun occurred and the printer cannot print full pages of a document.
See Solving print problems on page 6-15.
Drum Error
The corona wire needs to be cleaned. See Cleaning the corona wire on page 5-14.

If you check out page 6-5 it tells how to clear the paper jam from the rear of the machine! A point often missed.

If all else fails, try a reset of the printer Drum & Page counter:

With printer tuned on.
Press and hold the “internal button” behind front cover, until all LEDs illuminate.
Make sure Drum light is off, then release and close front cover.

Meaning of LED Indication

Front cover is open:
Close the front cover of the printer.

Back cover is open:
Close the back cover of the printer.

Paper jam:

Put the paper back in the manual feed slot.

try a self test print(hold feed and power up) if the printer still does not print check the ribbon to make sure it is inserted correctly. If it is still does not print it could be the printhead or pressure setting. you could also try printing with carbon paper to see if the pins in the printhead are striking the paper.

if the printer is still not marking the paper you may need to replace the printhead or printhead cable.
