Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Dishwasher not draining properly or not draining at all issues can arise due to different reasons. Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter.

Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s drain lines.

First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. Has the disposer been replaced recently? If so, chances are the knockout is still in place. Simply remove the drain hose from the disposer, and knock out the plug. If the disposer has not been replaced, try removing the drain hose from the disposer and use a wet-dry vacuum (prepared for water, of course) to **** any water (and hopefully anything else) from the drain line. Then reconnect the hose, and test the unit. If you have checked the air gap and the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

I'm getting an E:15 on my new Bosch dishwasher and nothing works, how do I fix it?

E15 means that water has gotten into the base pan below the dishwasher and it is now in flood mode. You've probably noticed that the drain pump will run all the time now as well. What that means is that water has worked it's way down into the base pan below the dishwasher tub causing the unit to do nothing but drain. This is normally caused by the drain being clogged or too many suds in the tub causing the tub to overflow a bit. Either way, you'll need to uninstall the dishwasher and tip it forward at a 45 degree angle to drain the water out of the base pan. Be sure to put a towel under the dishwasher first so that the water is soaked up in the towel instead of going all over the floor. Once you've drained all the water out of the base pan, reinstall the dishwasher and pour a gallon of water in the dishwasher. If it drains it out right away and doesn't wash or refill, you still have water left in the base pan to try again, otherwise you're good to go.
Now if you don't want to do all this work just to get your dishwasher working again and you have time, let the dishwasher just sit unused for a week and the water in the base pan will evaporate as time goes on and the dishwasher will start working again after a week.

Excessive amount of drain hose on dishwarsher cause a drain problem

Hello Leonard, thank you for your post!
I understand that your Frigidaire dishwasher has two gallons of water left inside of the tub. I would recommend checking the drain hose to assure it is not clogged and installed properly. The glass trap may need to be cleaned out and you can locate that under the bottom rack. If you continue to experience issues with your dishwasher please reply back for further assistance. -Matt

My son's guests put liquid dish detergent in the dishwasher. I found the dishwasher full of suds, not functioning without any possibility of turning it off.

Hi, you have to clean out the dishwasher and get into all the nook and crannies where the soap suds may be lying. Its a lot of ringing out cloths to remove all the soap detergent deposits. Then when you have done that you need to put it on a cold rinse or the lowest temp that's available to your machine maybe even just a rinse till its all gone.

Dishwasher not working.... when i close the dishwasher and turn it on i can not hear any water running and there is a pool of water at the bottom that will not drain

Hello, How long has your dishwasher been do this? Have you washed dish's in it? Also, these German made dishwasher run on less than 2 1/2 gallons of water. These German manufactured dishwasher machines run really quite. Because of the German water conservancies laws. They limit the amount of water dishwasher and washing machine can use. Also, there is no storage hot water system in there homes, it on demand hot water. You can't hear the motor running and about the only thing one can hear is maybe the water washing the dishes.

Now, the water at the bottom of the dishwasher, if the drain isn't connected up under is the sink drain and trap area or the garbage disposable in the sink. but some place lower on the drain pipe. You will not have a spiffing effect on the the bottom of the dishwasher, it the same with washing machines. One the discharge pump starts sucking air, it will not drain the dishwasher. The siffen effect works if the water is below the outlet for the drain. Example: Home owner have the new washing running and continue fill with water. Why, because the drain pipe end is below the the bottom of the washing machine tub. It fill up with water and siffen action continues emptying the tube will it still filling. One heck of a water bill.

Dishwasher drains but leaves behind about 1/2" of standing water

Water standing in the bottom of the tub is normal.
A small amount of clean water around the outlet on the tub bottom at the back of the tub keeps the water seal lubricated.

I have error code e1

Hi. Sorry this is so late, but I just happened across this post, so I thought I'd see if you have solved your problem yet. The EI code most often is caused by water leaving the tub during the wash cycle. The most common cause of this is that the dishwasher drain hose does not have a high loop in it. Often, the installer ran the hose right down through the floor. It needs to loop up high before going to the drain to prevent water loss, and a resulting IE code.

Water slowly filling cabinet when dishwasher is off.

either
leaking valve - to check, turn water off and see if it still happens
or
if appliance is plumbed in to a spigot on the sink trap, then when you empty sink, some of the water finds its way into the dishwasher via the drain hose. to cure, take the drain hose as high as possible under the sink in a swan neck
