Nikon Fa advance lever loose. Not used camera for a few years and set to M250 mode due to not having batteries, Advanced lever once to test, advanced one, then pulled lever back for another test. Lever then feels lifeless and has no resistance to being moved. it will not take a picture even with batteries. any Idea what the problem is?

Depressing the motor drive shutter release button and Turing the motor drive coupling works sometimes, but once you've done it and you take another picture you get the same problem again, probably should get a repairman to look at it.

    thanks for your suggestion

Try moving the coupler on the bottom where the motor drive would connect. See if you can rotate the piece clockwise. With the advance lever loose, it may be in mid-cycle on the winding/advance

Minolta 700 film advance lever was working, then it wouldnt wind, now it is stuck.

Use or buy a brand new battery from store that sell lot of them.

Do not get from store that only has a few, meaning they have been sitting there for years.

My FA camera shutter release button won't work, no reaction when depressed and look through the view finder was dark.

The dark viewfinder usually means that the battery must be replaced as the mirror has fully or partially locked up. A new battery usually fixes this instantly. The stuck shutter release can also be due to a failed battery or is due to the shutter lock being engaged. The lock is disengaged by pulling the film advance lever back slightly.

You can download free instructions for your camera courtesy or the Norman Butkus website; if you find his information useful then consider making a donation as he suggests toward his site running costs.

The battery is either two SR44's or LR44's, the latter are cheaper but give less accurate exposures due to their unstable voltage output, but if you're shooting on negative film instead of transparencies you'll be unlikely to spot the difference. A single CR1/3N battery also does the same job as two LR44's but is harder to find and more expensive than two of the very common LR44's.

My Nikon FE film advance lever is stuck. It does not move at all, there is no film in the camera. The repair shop wants $100 to fix it which is more than the camera is worth I think. I would like to do...

Have you tried fresh batteries and setting the shutter speed dial to M90 or m250 whichever you have? If this does'nt work you can remove the camera bottom plate and gently pull a lever away from the advance cog. Some times things get out of sync in there. Sorry I can't be more specific but I did this many years ago. Good Luck.

Nikon fm10 cannot get shuuter release button to depress or film advance lever to work. is there a lock on shutter release ?

The film lever is also a switch. If you had advanced the film lever, **** it outward a little. You will feel the detent click somewhat when doing so. Leave the lever outward and see if the shutter will work. The detent is for appling an closed circuit for the light meter. When the lever is fully pushed back in it shuts the power to the meter on off to conserve battery power

Not letting take pics or advance film

Check the batteries first. The electromagnetic shutter requires power to function. To free up the shutter and advance lever, rotate the command switch to "M90" (if I recall). That should re-set the shutter and allow you to advance the lever mechanically.
